does anyone know how to get rid of high lat on bnet?
cause i make maps and i dont have any way to transfer them to people
I have used aim but for a couple people on my friends list i cant send maps we are working on together back and forth

If your internet sucks thats the problem if it doesnt then it must be a firewall or a router problem. Do you have a router? They cause a lot of problem, well atleast for me. I cant join games, becuase I have this huge problem, thats why I dont play SC that much anymore. No fun just creating games all the time.
Btw here is some tips to help you out.
http://www.battle.net/forums/thread.aspx?f...p=1post417411just read the whole thing, dont really know your case so yea...
Hmmm, I dunno ... sounds to me like the games you are trying to join are the culprit for the latency problem, and not you.
When you create a game, does it also exhibit the same behavior, especially when other players are in the game?
What kind of internet are you using? ... chances are there's a firewall involved and may be affecting the transfer of data from Battle.net to your computer. If you have access to it, make sure you have port 6112 open to UDP and TCP/IP both ways.
Also try to disable any programs you have running that connect directly to the internet, like messaging software, FTP servers, etc...
Post back on your progress...
Actually while were at it does anyone know how I can join games? Becuase I had this problem for a long time and the people there at battle.net arent really helping...
No its when I amke my own game, I have too high latency for people to join, no one can join my games, its rare for me not to be able to join others games because of high lat for them. No one can join my games!
I've seen the problem in Windows 2000. Battle.Net response seems different than it did in Windows NT and Win 9x.
I have also heard the TCP/IP rumor as the issue. And as a matter of fact, I was working on this for quite a few hours to find a tweak for this.
I believe the one minute expiration of UDP connections is the issue. I think the W2K/XP TCP/IP stack is causing the problem. But, it may be an application (Blizzard's) problem.
I'm also concerned about changing the way the TCP/IP stack is set up. I believe Microsoft has changed the UDP mappings to one minute to reduce Denial of Service attacks. I believe they did this in the Service Packs for Windows 2000 and the base build for Windows XP.
Unfortunately, a registry entry to fix this issue is not easy to find. I do have something I will try later tonight if I have time. I'll let you know if it works.
instead of all that mumbo jumbo, can u tell me how i can get rid of this high lat and people will be able to join my games, that would be wonderful. thanks!
The opening port thing never works.....
I think if the other player creates a game, you join, leave and THEN create your game, they should be able to join. It's always worked for me.
I know but my friends also have high lat so i cant join there games eiher lol. SO we cant do that trick, because neither can join either game! So it kinda sucks!
hey there, i know exactly why, u probally have router, right?
ya well people with routers cant make games, only some people depending on there internet speed, server, company, or connection settings, really there isnt a way u can fix it except for plugging ur main connection wire directly into ur computer. a way for ur friends to join is:
1.Have them make a game
2.Join the game they made
3.Get them to join your game
its not like a preserved trigger like in map making such as it wont keep working so u have to keep doing this everytime u make a game, it stops working after like 10 minutes so u have to re-do these steps again... i have the same problem i make maps, got a router, cant spread it i know how u feel lol... good luck
I feel your pain ha ha. I have a 4 mb/sec cable connection connected to my PC via a wireless router, and the only way other people can join my games is via the infamous "latency trick" of joining games and then making your own.
The reason people cannot join is because people cannot connect to you. The most common reason for this is a router.
Try this:
Try putting 192.168.1.1 in your web browser.
If you see a login screen, that means you have a linksys router and can configure port forwarding.
The default login I beleive is blank username and the password would be "admin"
Next you will have to figure out how to forward any data (UDP/TCP) to your LAN ip address. Good luck.
i have a netgear router and it works fine. almost everyone has 1-2 green bars.( | | )
I think it has something to do with having a router, and therefore having a dynamic IP.
I had the same problem. I can't join games but I can create. I just opened some ports on my firewall and on port forwarding.
