What does "doesn" mean ?
I'm sure he means Down. Well, how can I say it..Ah yes, the server just sucks.
Wow, bad typo. I meant down.
Why ? Because you percieve it that way. I allso do. There is no correct answer, remember. For you it may be dow, but for somebody who just joined and it's his first i-net community, it seems like the coolest site ever.
Every month or so IP goes on an intense party binge that lasts at least 3 months. During this time he finally leaves his computer and pursues human contact. Also during this time a miniature Moose sneaks into the MySQL server and urinates onto it. This usually does nothing, but occasionally cause the entire server to explode. Think Chernobyl but with circuit boards and meese instead of fat technicians and the Russians.
It's the server SEN runs on. I'm going to take a wild guess and say that it is a very sucky server. Probably cheep too.
I have been on this site for a little while and I have already encountered the site going down about 4 times already.
Yeah, it is a cheap server (probably one of those $10 a month deals), but just be thankful you have a server! Also, to be honest, SEN doesn't get much traffic at all. There really is no reason for the server to be down as much as it is.

He meant the server, why is the server down so much.
Well, SEN gets about 10 signups daily. That's cool and all but most of the people are never active. Is it possible registering the users is taking up some kind of space?
Maybe there should be an account sweep or something that removes a member if they havent logged for over a month or something. Or maybe about 2-3 months.
There is. I don't know how long it takes to delete the account though.

Actually, that's exactly what I envisioned what was happening.QUOTE(Syphon @ Jun 30 2006, 01:08 PM)

Apparently something big went down yesterday, otherwise we've been pretty good for this year. That applies to the server though, not the MySQL downtimes. Those are a result of Invision's code.
It was out for so long I actually ventured into the possibility that they were converting to v5... Man I was stupid yesterday.
SeN was down for a full day? Damn, College really does strange stuff to people.
When you see the SeN logo error page, it means that the site is up, but something in the MySQL got screwed up. If you encounter a 404 error, just a blaank page with generic error report, then the severs are down.
The Server has over 4000 active members that actually do stuff that have messages, and posts occuring every couple seconds, Thats a lot, about 300 people visit the site everyday! If you ask me it shouldnt even work, but it does, and just give it a chance when it goes down, It gets back up very quickly!
Well, yesturday it was down for about 23 hours (you can look at post times and tell)
Apparently our server has been down a lot. Nothing much I can do besides fix the MySQL errors left over when it gets back online. Hopefully, the host is finished doing whatever it is they were doing (My best guess is some kind of hardware/software upgrades). The server has a pathetic 86% uptime for July so far, though.
It was just down again... (sigh)
It was just down again, but no one should have seen that because they were busy playing Uberena because it's map night. Which they aren't.
Actually it was down earlier this morning.
