Final Fantasy VII Advent Children
A Fan Fiction based on the Sequel Movie
DISCLAIMER: I do not own Final Fantasy VII or its plot in any way. So, don’t try to sue me! Besides, I barely got any money.
THE LIFE STREAM: that’s what we call the river of life that circles our planet. It gives life to the planet and everything in it.
There’s a power company named Shin-RA. With them, we were able to live very comfortable lives, but wasn’t that because they were taking life away from the planet? A lot of people thought so. Shin-RA tried to use their power to stop anybody who got in their way. They had a special group of people named SOLDIER.
Jenova, a calamity that fell from the sky; the people who tried to stop her from destroying the planet; Shin-RA, and the people against it; Sephiroth, who hated the planet to much he wanted it to go away. There were a lot of battles. And with every battle came more sadness.
And then came the chosen day. Meteor was going to destroy the planet, and it used the life stream to defend itself. And all the greed and sadness…was washed away. “Sadness was the price to see it end.” It’s been two years since they told me that.
“Let’s go!” a young teen who wore a cap and a gray sweatshirt was standing atop a pile of boxes. “Yeah!” his friend agreed and then ran off.
The teen jumped off from atop the boxes and landed with a splash in a puddle of water, and then followed the girl.
Well, it seems the planet is a lot madder than we thought. They call it geostigma.
“Well, Marlene…how does my forehead look?” said a boy who was in bed. He had brown hair that went to his eyebrows, with turquoise eyes. On his forehead, was black spots caused by this ‘geostigma’. Marlene just smiled weakly and replaced the rag that had fallen from the boy’s forehead.
Please, please don’t take Denzel away.
A woman with black hair, and wore a black leather jacket, with a leather skirt, was tending to her bar. She was called Tifa, and she was placing away dirty cups in the drawer below her to be washed. And then, the phone rang. After a few rings, she decided to go pick it up, and placed the last cups into the drawer.
Tifa walked from behind the counter, up the stairs, and past the room where the kids, Marlene and Denzel, were talking.
Marlene was an adopted child of Tifa, as well as Denzel. Marlene had black hair, which was tied into a ponytail; brown eyes and she wore a white dress that went down as far as one centimeter below her knees.
Tifa finally reached the room where the phone was placed, and pushed a few papers aside to pick up the black phone. Next to the phone, was a picture of Tifa, herself, her companion, Cloud Strife, along with Marlene and Denzel standing in between them.
“Strife Delivery Service,” said Tifa into the phone, “you name it, we ship—may I ask who’s calling?” Tifa giggled. “Yes, I remember you.
A man with yellow spiky hair was sat upon a motorcycle. He wore a black-grayish robe that had no sleeves on the left arm, and covered his entire right arm. On his right shoulder was an iron shoulder cap used to deflect bullets, along with a silver model of a wolf’s head.
His name was Cloud Strife: the hero who had defeated the Great Sephiroth two years ago. After the final battle, though, he retired his rank as a hero, and became a delivery boy, but then secluded himself from the others.
Cloud’s phone beeped. “You have one new message!” said a smooth female voice from the phone. Cloud pressed a button, and he heard Tifa’s voice: “Reno called again. He’s in Healin; says he’s got work for you. Cloud, how are you?” and right after the message was said, “You have no more messages…” Cloud clasped his phone shut.
He then leaned forward on his motorcycle and prepared to ride off when a pain shot up through his arm…”Ugh…!” Cloud sat up straight, and clasped his right arm. He stared at it for a few moments, and then prepared to ride off into the badlands.
A young man with silver hair that reached his shoulders rode on a motorcycle to the location Cloud had just been and kicked over a sword which was placed in the ground.
His name was Kadaj, and the other two guys were his pals, Yazoo and Loz. They were on a quest to find mother, and they suspected that Cloud, their ‘brother’, had it.
Yazoo, who had the same hair style, said, “Hey, Kadaj? Is that where big brother lives?”
“Yeah, that’s where he lives,” said Kadaj.
“Do you think he’ll be happy to see us?”
“Not a chance.”
“Don’t cry, Yazoo.” Loz, on the other hand, had spiky hair like Cloud, but his hair color was silver, like the others. He was a tough fighter, but a real crybaby.
“Do you think Mother’s with him?” Yazoo asked.
“Not a chance.” Loz sniffled.
“Don’t cry, Loz,” Yazoo said.
Just right below them on the cliff, was Cloud on his motorcycle. “There he is,” Kadaj pointed out. He snapped his fingers, and Yazoo with Loz rode their motorcycles down the cliff to chase Cloud.
Cloud glanced behind his shoulder to find two men chasing him. Damn, he thought. He throttled his motorcycle to ride full speed.
Loz rode up next to him and thrust a punch. “Where’s Mother?!” he yelled. Cloud drew his sword and blocked the punch.
Yazoo rode up on Cloud’s left, where Loz had just been. She shot a few rounds and Cloud deflected them with his sword. “We know you’re hiding her, brother.”
Cloud just pushed a button and both sides of the motorcycle flew open, revealing a secret compartment holding his stash of swords. Yazoo’s motorcycle recoiled from the surprise action and sped off in front of Cloud and Loz.
While Loz thrust another punch at Cloud, Yazoo turned his motorcycle around in a U-turn, and collided with Cloud, but it didn’t crash. Instead, he flipped of Cloud’s motorcycle and shot him above the right eyebrow.
“Ugh!” Cloud gasped under his breath, while his goggles flew away.
Loz thrust a punch once again and hit Cloud’s sword, which was in his right hand. Cloud’s geostigma reacted, making him weak, and his sword flew away. He was not armed, and he couldn’t outrun these two.
And then, Loz and Yazoo summoned a couple of Shadow Creepers. They headed straight for Cloud. 5, 7, 12…, he counted the creepers. Damn!
He could hear Kadaj talking on his phone in the distance. “Don’t tell me you’re leading me on!” Kadaj said in an excited tone. “Because I do think you have mother there! No need to shout. You’re starting to bother me. Put the president on.” And with that, Kadaj put his hand in the air, signaling Yazoo and Loz to leave Cloud alone. The shadow creepers disappeared. It was clear that Cloud didn’t have mother to them.
When Cloud noticed what happened, he stopped his motorcycle and broke it to a sideways position, where he was able to see Kadaj clearly from here to atop the cliff. Kadaj was smiling. He then rode off into the distance.
Cloud recovered his goggles and sword, and then headed to Healin.
His cell phone once again beeped, and he pressed a button to hear Barrett’s voice “I just found the biggest goddamn oil field you ever found, Cloud! Oil, Cloud! Surveying is done, so I should be able to see Marlene real soon, so tell her, alright Spiky?!” and then he heard Tifa’s voice: “Reno called again. But he sounded kind of strange…be careful, okay?”
When Cloud reached his destination, he had his sword drawn. Cloud walked up the wooden steps and opened a metal door. Reno, the red-headed Turk, took out his night stick and let out a battle cry. He rushed at Cloud, but Cloud countered with his sword. Reno lost his balance and ran out the door. Just as he recovered, and was about to go back inside, Cloud closed it and locked the door.
“Alright, so you’re good!” Reno said from outside.
Then, a bald man with black gloves walked in from a door to the east. “Yeah Rude, you are looking sharp!” comment Reno.
The man called Rude charged at Cloud with his night stick drawn, but Cloud was already ready with his sword drawn, pointed directly at Rude’s neck.
A sound of a wheelchair came from the east door. A man wrapped in a white cloak, covering him entirely, wheeled his way into the room. “Good. You fight like the SOLDIER you once claimed to be…” said a farmiliar voice.
“Rufus Shinra?” said Cloud. He then looked at Rude. “Boy, do I feel sorry for you.” Rude just glanced away. “What do you want?” Cloud added.
“When the building collapsed…”
“Who were the guys that attacked me?”
“…I managed to get out.”
“I’m leaving.”
“We’re ordering an investigation in Sephiroth’s wake. We searched the Northern Cave, and what do you think we found?” Cloud tensed. “We found nothing, nothing…You can relax. I’m afraid we were interrupted by the same three who attacked you: Kadaj and his gang.”
“Who is Kadaj?” Cloud asked.
“Kadaj is a leader of a group that is dedicated, young and violent. They’re after something, the same thing we were after. So, I decided we needed to hire a little muscle.”
“Not interested.”
“Come on, Cloud. Help us rebuild Shin-RA…you are an EX-Soldier…aren’t you?”
“Yeah, in my head…” he turned to the door, and then asked. “What’s this ‘Mother’ crap about?”
“Well, a lot of kids miss their mothers.” Rufus replied coolly.
“Come on, Cloud.” Reno said finally. “Together, we can rebuild Shin-RA.
Cloud busted open the door, his sword drawn and said, “Not interested.” Reno jumped out of the way, watching Cloud leave. Just as the door was about to close, Rude and Rufus said in unison, “Reno!” he turned and it closed shut.
NOTE: That’s the end of CHAPTER ONE. Sorry it was so short, this is just a FAN FICTION, and I’m lazy, so…it’s not like I’m writing a book. Anyway, there will be more in the next chapter: the orphans living with Cloud are kidnapped, a disruptive menace attacks the town, and Cloud learns the truth about Kadaj. Well, stay tuned for the next CHAPTER of FFVII AC FAN FICTION
