do hyper trigger effect switch trigger?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Barry on 2006-07-08 at 02:09:13
Can you please make that more understandable...

It depends on what kind of trigger that you are running and what kind of effect that you are trying to attempt. Be more specific.

Switches shouldn't be affected by hyper triggers.

Conds:
Current Player bring atleast 1 marine to location BIG3

Actions:
Center labeled "Enter" on Flag owned by player 8 at "BIG3"
Move unit from Enter to exit owned by current player
Set "switch 01"
Perserve trigger

---------------

Conds:
Switch 01 is set

Actions:
Center view for current player at Exit
Clear "switch 01"
perserve trigger

---------------------

If you tell me to put the center view in the first trigger then it wont work. how to make it work? on the center view trigger.

Hyper triggers have no effect on switches.

There's no reason to put your center view action in a seperate trigger.

QUOTE(Ren)

You didn't even say what you were trying to do.

I am trying to make those trigger work but it didnt work. Even if i put both in 1 trigger it still doesnt work.

If i dont put a seperate trigger it will keep center view the EXIT

What player is teh Hyper Trigger assigned to? Try to make the switches and hyper triggers and assigned to different players.

ADDITION:
NOTE: Never, NEVER, assign hyper triggers to All Players if you have switches. It will affect every player and every player that has switches.

ADDITION:
Wait, scratch everything I'm saying..rereading the forum.

ADDITION:
I dunno. I seriously don't get what you're saying. I need to look at the map. Give me a link and I'll look at it..try to tell you what's wrong..if not, well..too bad.

Ooh..I think I get your point.

This reminds me of teh upgrades in RPGs..

Bring 1 men to Upgrade (Player 1)
Bring 1 building to Upgrade (Player 7)

Move Men to Upgrade Exit
CenterView Upgrades Location
GiveUnit Owned By Player 7 to Player 1

And ect.

Wait..I have to read the thing again..I forgot..

ADDITION:
No seriously, give me a map link.

Yawwwn....I'm waiting for your map link dude.

NOTE: Move the Exit Location ON passible TERRAIN, rather than on IMPASSIBLE TERRAIN such as the WATER.

ANOTHER NOTE: For every trigger, it always leads to CENTERVIEW at Exit 2.

"Bring to Big 2"
"Switch 1"

"Switch 1 is Set"
"CenterView Exit 2"

And so on for Big 1.

ADDITION:
NOTE: Use the same conditions for the move location trigger and move unit and set switch trigger, but seperate the move unit switch trigger and move location trigger (move unit with switch in one trigger, and so on).

So, it'll be like:

BRING UNIT TO BIG 1

MOVELOCATION EXIT ON BIG 1
PRESERVE TRIGGER

and

BRING UNIT TO BIG 1

MOVEUNIT EXIT TO EXIT 2
SET SWITCH 1
PRESERVE TRIGGER

ADDITION:
NOTE: You're making a very complicated version of MOVE UNIT from one location to another location.....I just figured it out. Case closed.

ADDITION:
ANOTHER NOTE: Exit can't be in two locations at once. Your marines overlap at both locations, thus..moving exit to big 1 and big 2. It can't be in both locations at once...so make a different location for both sides. That may be the cause of the glitch.

ADDITION:
Also, make the exit location bigger. The exit location will only center on the center of the big location, and the marines in the center will be the only ones to take affect.

Uh dude dont say case closed when you haven't tested yourself. No it doesnt work.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Staredit.Net Essence on 2006-07-08 at 16:12:56
NOTE: If you bring a unit to the location, it sets the switch, and then you're doing if the switch is set, clear the switch and centerview at exit 2. No wonder why it keeps centering at exit 2. Dude!

Hold on. After I fix it, I'll test it.

Have you even look at the map. Have you even tested? The problem is not keep repeating centering exit 2 the problem is that it doesnt CENTERING exit 2...
.

even if you take out the 2nd exit it will still be the samething. Dont worry about why i have 2 exit that's not the case. The case is exit1 on big1 doesn't center location at exit2.

I HAVE LOOKED AT THE MAP. It's cneterviewing at exit 2 for player 1 because if you bring a marine to exit location, it says set switch 1. Then, there's another trigger 'Switch 1 is Set' 'Player 1 bring to Exit 1'; 'Clear Switch 1' 'Center View Exit 2'. Stop arguing with me.

IF IT DOESN"T WORK, THEN STOP POSTING DUDE!

Listen, I have tested it. Alright? I'm trying to fix it, and you're just damn being annoying!

ADDITION:
It..is..fixed.

ADDITION:
NOTE: Download it and right-click it. Click on properties and change it to teh program you want to open it with.

I give up. If you're going to say everything is impossible because you're nothing but a newb map maker, and don't know WHAT'S POSSIBLE, then good for you. I'm done helping you.

It was answered: "No!"

Well do not worry about the other guy post. Well I found out another way to do it without switch so thanks, but what I want is to make the switch trigger work in my map that I gave for example. The switch trigger does not center view the exit 2.

I am sorry if I am not being nice or clear but they cannot tell me the case is closed when do not they do not understand much about trigger or the editor and telling me how to do stuff that they did not even know. If you read up most of the thing he said are very wrong, and even in the example map that he try to fixed is also really messy. I am not being mean or anything but you can close this case or any of my case if you are sure that the advise you gave me are right. I'll try to be clear from now on.

Question: How do you close this topic? cry.gif
