Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Forcing computer upgrades
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Sicarul on 2006-07-08 at 21:11:24
I need to force computer to upgrade it's armor and attack, but i can't find a way to.

I don't really need to go more than 3 ups, with switches that can unleash certain chain of triggers that makes it go to 0-2 would be more than ok =)

I've already search the forums and the only thing i saw was this topic, but that method was quite random, so i wanted to ask if a less random method was found by someone.

Thanks in advance.

Are you trying to do it immediately?? as soon as you start the game? or when you go somewhere they automatically upgrd?

If you want to do it immediately just go to settings and set it (you prolly already know that wink.gif )

What I usually do for that is.. use player 8 upgrded a couple times (at start) and use player 9,10 or 11 for non upgrds. then when u wan them to upgrd give them back to player 8.

Their is also an AI script for upgrades, but I've never tried them so idk if they work.

No, see, i want to have difficulty chosing in Omicron RPG, and if i can have different upgrades for each difficulty, it would just be sweet!.

Tough, i don't know how to do this, or if it's even possible

An example:

Easy difficulty - All races have upgrades 0
Normal difficulty - All races have upgrades 1
Hard difficulty - All races have upgrades 2

The giving units i think it only works for example for speed upgrades or spells.

Thanks for replying anyway.

(If they upgrade ~10-20 minutes after the game started, there's no problem, but i want it to happen, and not extremely randomly)

Well, I think if you give the comp resources and upgrade buildings, it will work, but you prolly have to use a campain script. I dunno, I think i wanted to do something like this before, and it didnt work, also, if u try doing it this way, try not to make the upgrades instant, since the comp might get confused biggrin.gif

That wouldn't work, no player would stand having to upgrade slowly >.< i will just have to find another ways i guess

ADDITION:
Nvm, if someone knows, reply, but i will stop being lazy and will experiment myself... if i get something i will post it here for future reference...

Spawning more units wouldn't work, and stronger ones... i have no units left to use...

Still, i can make higher max hp and lower it down for easier difficulties, also i can make it be made by a player with for example adrenal glands for zerglings and then give them to enemy player... tough i would just prefer the upgrading way...

You can get the computer to upgrade by giving it its required buildings, units, and resources, as well as running a specific AI script. It's not "random" or anything if you do it correctly.

Here's what you should try: Make a map, give yourself an invincible building, give the computer their main building and four peons, and run a script for them, and see what they build or do, and when they do it. When they upgrade, count how many peons they have, what buildings they have, and how many resources they have(Leaderboard Greed), and incorperate those requirements into your map.

Ok, i've done this and i got this map.

[attachmentid=19910]

I will find another way, this is way too much work that could be done in a simpler way, also, it needs players to wait some time after choosing difficulty, something i don't want to happen.

And computer does random things with the marines they get.

Thanks to all who answered!
