Okay, I don't see why censoring is really that big of a deal here. It's not like any body here even really curses along the lines of using those words exactly. Every one curses, and everyone has heard it before.

I just don't see why there should be censores. OMGOMG HE CURSED WARN +!!!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2006-07-10 at 03:15:03
Censors discourage people from cursing. We strive to keep these forums professional and mature, and though we may fail in some ways, there is no need to use words that are censored.

The simple solution is: Don't like the censors? Don't swear.

Don't like the censors, leave. Basically the same logics. You may not agree, but while you're not the admin, you can chill.

And how about the mods ? They have to read what is written. And as far as I know, they don't like swearing.

Let's say you don't like this phrase "Kashmir is an idiot" (no offence, just made it up as an example of something you probably won't like). And I, for example will repeat this phrase in every post I make several times. And you're a mod, that can't do anything about it, because the rules say that this phrase shouldn't be censored or understood as flame.

Don't get the moderators annoyed, like you don't want someone to annoy you. In other words, treat everybody like you want everybody to treat you.

Unfortunately, that isn't a very realistic solution if one of the aims of SEN is to maintain a relatively professional and mature atmosphere/presentation. What you're suggesting could prehaps be possible if there were a certain forum clearly labeled as to allow swearing/cursing - so that people who didn't want to read such things wouldn't have to - but then what would be the point of that forum? I can only imagine that removing censors would only have any effect on posts that include flames... and we don't tolerate that kind of @!#$ here, do we? bleh.gif
But really, there's no need to swear, even if you are flaming - which of course is still unacceptable.

Personally, I'd like to say f**k and all those other good things all the time here. But, I don't think a few parents of 12 year old kids are going to agree with that.

Actually swearing shows that your brain isn't creative enough to find other words to express what you want.

Mini, please go somewhere else. You're the kind of person that makes me get warned for cursing. And actually, I did read the FAQ's and no where does it day you can't have a curse word in your member title does it? No.

I would love to agree with you but this is kind of a forum, we can't help but read it.

Just like all the simple solutions everyone posted here. You're the admin of this site, what are the parents going to do? Yell at you?

Simple Solution For Parents: Don't like the words? Deal with it!

Oh yeah, and if it is so uptight about cursing, then maybe we should have one big parental advisory sticker on the main page.

Sarcastic you may be, but agree that if someone's swearing it doesen't make you respect that person.

I don't care that much about that. You just color up what you say with swears. It's nothing bad, and in some cases even necesairy.

I would say in rare cases.

Well, I'd say that it is within anyones right to swear, however, the administrators of the site must consider who is on the site and what they can be exposed to. Of course, most cases don't call for swearing. If you look at every post I've made on this and other forums, you'll probably find about 2 times I've ever had to swear, and even those were not truly needed. I respect others decisions to use such language, however, I'm less inclined to be persuaded when they do...doesn't mean I'm not.

The sensors create an environment where content deemed as offensive to some can be avoided. Offending people causes bad things to happen...trust me. And it doesn't even take language to do it....
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Mini Moose 2707 on 2006-07-10 at 15:05:17
Doesn't say it in the FAQs? Let me quote one.
QUOTE
Note: This is not every punishable offense on SEN. It is expected that loopholes and debates will arise. Please don't expect "It isn't specified in that FAQ!" to be valid excuse any time soon.

If a word is censored in posts and topics, and it isn't in user titles, why would it be okay to user it in there? The censors weren't built in to cover every single input, but that doesn't make it okay to use the words. I did, however, change the text under Censor Evasion. I will consider removing the warn.

Plus, it allows people to access SEN from library computers, etc. that block pages with words like f* and s*.

the school i used to go to has the website blocked.
i think its common sense that you shouldnt say or do anything bad on a public forum.

Just a note for those who are arguing about 12 year old's parents. 12 year olds aren't allowed on this site. You have to be 13 and up, and IMO, that's old enough to be around swearing.

I do think the censors are appropriate though, as there are very few scenarios where using the censored words are appropriate.

Also, should evading a non censored word be a punishable offense, since the intent was to avoid it? (Such as using @$$ for "Ass"). Perhaps, if it is punished, not as severe as an actual censor evasion.

My opinion, though, is that if you think you are mature enough to swear, you should be able to, but you shouldn't get pissed when someone swears at you unless you're 100% clean from swearing.

there kids that lie about there age, but we can tell whether there little kids or not by the way they act.
its just one of those forums that dont like people use the swear words... just deal with it. its like, OMG there isnt any coke at pizza hut. i think i should brag about it since i dont like pepsi.... either just drink what ever they have or dont go to that place ever again.

If you think you're mature enough to swear, you aren't.

If you can't tolerate an inability to swear on one site, please leave. Now.

Well, half your posts are plagarized.

Not to mention you've just sent a LOT of people an .exe to "look at pictures". Nice keylogger virus. If anyone got this PM, don't open it... hopefully logic will kick in and notice it's an .exe. My friend, you've got bigger problems than a little warn level increase now... what you did was illegal. The only thing you did right was filling in your user title for me.
