Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> [SOLVED] Different Tilesets
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Dondivad on 2006-07-11 at 17:12:41
I was wondering, is there an existing or something that could be made in the future, program that could let you combine tilesets in a map. Such as, putting desert terrain in a jungle map, or putting some twilight doodads into the badlands. Does the SC code not let you do this, is this even possible?

Think of the possibilities! *Especially RP's*

Edit: Wait, I think I remember something do this, I think it was Star Wars RP. So, I'm pretty sure it is possible. Now, what program does this? I'm wondering if its starforge, problem is starforge won't run on my comp, so I don't know.

I'm pretty sure that you didin't see two different sets of tileset in one map. As for the Starcraft not being able to handle it, I would think so or else this would have been done a long time ago. Not completely sure though.

Well, nothing to do now but to go on b.net and look for that map. (I emptied out my download folder a while ago)

It's not possible to combine tilesets without a modification.

However, you can make it appear that you have mixed tilesets by placing sprites used on doodads from another tileset in your map.

Ever hear of Starforge or SCMDraft? They can be found in the downloads database. They allow you to do almost anything you can possibly do in a map.

I did mention starforge doesn't work on my comp, so yes I have heard of them. In fact, I use SCM draft. But sadly, no, you cannot put in different tilesets with it.

But I still recall star wars rp having different TERRAIN, to create different planets such as tatooine and stuff. I vividly remember mixing at least desert, jungle, and space terrain. Either I'm right, or someone decided to put false memories in my brain.

But you can put sprites. If you had bothered to read his other post you'd already know that mixing tilesets other than their sprites is impossible without some very stylish useage of tileedit, an MPQ program, the ability to write a mod specific editor and alot of time on your hands.

Yes, I read his post, but I wasn't sure since I still had memories of the map with many tilesets. But, sadly, I just found the map on b.net, it is simply a jungle tileset with null terrain as space, and a ton of space doodad sprites. And there was no desert tileset at all. I guess I'm sad to learn that you can't mix tilesets and *my memory is not the greatest*, but at least now i know how to imitate space in my Stargate SG-1 RP! (Which is what I'm working on)

Null terrain, it's genius!
