I would like to get a map that is as close to 32x32 as possible.

A list of allowed sizes would be great.

You can do 32x32, but you have to play a regular sized map first.

i remember hearing that you could do 20x11(the actaul screen size is about 11 1/2). but this runs the risk of the player moving the screen and crashing the game.

Player colors have nothing to do with map size.

Just remember that you need 2 squares on the bottm of the map for the in game boarder thing. Also I would recommend instead of makeing the map exactly the size you need make it a bit bigger. -Put a boarder on it and fill like 10 or so squares with null or space or whatever so that the player can move their screen even into the corners (I hate when my screen can't go as far as I would like it to). Las of all you might want to put somewhere under a force name or in the breifings that SC will crash if they haven't already played a game online.

Normal map dimensions are: 64, 96, 128, 192, 256.

As long as one of the map dimensions is a standard size, the other one can be pretty much anything under 256. For example, you could have a map that is 32x64, or 64x32 and it would be perfectly fine.

I both map dimensions are non-standard sizes then you'll have to play another map first. For example if you make a map that is 32x32 and you start up starcraft and play it without playing another map first, you crash.
