You have to see this video. It's insane.
http://www.1up.com/do/newsStory?cId=3152291I especially like the turret bouncing up and down. I didn't even plan on buying episode two, but I do now.

well.. i was unable to see it for some reason. It Just said operation cancelled. Would you like to expalin what happends or get a better link?
same ordeal happend to me...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QpdCi5XpCsEIt is absolutely insane. The creators however had created a game that uses it before Portal. It is called Narbacular Drop.
http://www.nuclearmonkeysoftware.com/You can do some insane stuff. Portal, along with Team Fortress 2, will come with Half-Life 2: Episode 2.
I mean you could do sooo many intresting things. Also keep in mind that when going through a portal you retain your velocity, momentum, etc.. everything allowing you to do some crazy jumps\puzzles.
Throw in user created content(Already got a huge fanbase of HL2 and you could just use Hammer) and possible HL2 mods using this..... This is one of the coolest ideas implemented in a game ever. Just when you thought the Gravity Gun with something.... Valve finds a great idea, hires the creators, and is making it even greater.
Thats awesome, kinda seems like prey to the next step. Prey is an awesome game, its like conenmed + sci-fi first person shooter.
Wow, that looks just great!
I hope it has some "Free Mode" or an Editor so you could have a BOAT LOAD of fun with the physics and engine.

It's made by Valve and on their Source Engine...uhh yeah. I wouldn't be suprised if they updated the SDK to allow people to mod the game. I mean this is Valve, they do everything they can to make the modding community better and better. The Source Engine already has Hammer as its mapping tool.
That's most definately enough to get me to learn how to use Source's modding tools.
Portal looks insanely Über. I'd get Episode 2 just for that.
Join the club!
I wonder if the portal gun is the only weapon you get. And how does it work? Apparently you can use it as a gravity gun and a portal thingy.

Google Narbacular Drop. It's a free download. Play it. Valve found that game and hired the creators. Portal is based around the same concept as Narbacular drop.
The main website is down (bandwith exceeded) so I'm downloading from some other place...
I also did that.
THe game seemed a little glitchy on me, it kept moving my portals. Which made the game extremely hard to play. I got to the Run Boulder Run level and just quit.
It didn't glitch much for me, I actually found it quite a fun little game. The run boulder run level was hard, but I got to the vertical level.
I can't tell (since their main site is down), but are they planning to have Portal as a seperate download for HL2 as well, or will it only be available with Episode 2?

ah thanks im gonna go do that right away
this is just awesome.
btw to play half life espidoe 1 and 2 do you need the oringal?
No. Well at least, you don't need the original to play Episode 1. I assume it's the same for Episode 2.
Wow, that Portal weapon, really creates alot of new strategies and tricks you can use in a game, looks very fun
I saw that trailer a couple days ago... When i saw that... I knew that game would be a total blast to play. I find it amusing that you keep your momentum so you can literaly shoot a portal 10 floors below you put one somewhere else. Jump into the one 10 floors below and go flying out the other one at like 91912912 mph
I just wish it was a stand alone game
That alone would be reason enough to get HL:2
You can usually buy anything on Steam as a standalone game. They may not release Portal as a seperate game right away, simply because they want people to purchase Episode Two, but I'm sure that at some point they will probably make it available for purchase seperately. They might even have it that way from the beginning, who knows?
Aye, when i saw the trailer me fell in lo'e. Im gettin episode one and two As soon as possible, Me lo'e that game, im sure it'll be hard for some places though, it'd be cool if you could make your own le'els for it... Ye'll ne'er get me buried booty!
