Report, edit, etc...Posted by O)Matt_Burch on 2006-07-18 at 23:33:53
I was thinking of making a whole anti hack routine for my map..
to counter maphack i would have a disabled power generator under some fog then center view every1 there.

to counter mineral hack, i enter an ammount of minerals that is impossible to get, and if you get it you are banned.

Kill own units, how would you detect that hack??

what other types of hacks are there?

Disabled units will not crash the map hack user.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by KABOOM on 2006-07-19 at 01:33:14
it needs to be a unit that crashes the map with no changes by triggers to it and gotta be hiden by normal players no matter what. and make it pl12 or something so it cant move if it can

some disabled units crash when you look at it...

so if you place one of these disabled units in fog of war and a map hacker looks at it shouldnt the map hacker crash?

Nope.

Most map hacks have "protection" so that when they look at the disabled units they dont crash. There is really no point in doing that.

Instead of having a disabled unit that you see if you have a map hack, why not have a seige tank or some other unit controled by the players and computer units on higher ground near them. The only way you could see those units is if you had a map hack and at which point the players unit would attack the computer. Use a trigger to detect if the computer on the cliff has died and then end current mission in defeat or desync the hacker.

That would work for the all revealed part of a map hack, but they can also set it so the whole map is explored, but not really seen.

It would be useful for some maps, but others have a need for keeping the terrain secret. There isn't really much we can do about hacks, except to not use them.

the anti-own death one-
conditions:
current player(1) has suffered at least 1 death of men
oppisite players:(2-8) Kills score at at least --
actions:
end scenerio in defeat for current players (1)

-the trigger should be something that the player with the hack suffers a death and the other players should not have a score for the death the player has suffered, then u put whatever actions u want

That will do nothing.
The map hacks supply the player with full vision, but their units can still only see what they can normally see.

This would activate under normal playing conditions.

isnt there a topic of this somewhere were someone got it right? im pretty sure what i said is what they resolved too using to crash map hackers. so ya it might be in ideas or tutorials and maybe in this somewhere way back

Yea, there is a thread similar to this.
http://www.staredit.net/index.php?showtopic=32536

I've already tested that that a Protoss Marker crashes the latest hacks.

Half the threads are copies of old threads, questions that have been answered a thousand times before.

I just thought of something:

In theory wouldn't it be possible to detect if the memory has been edited to show the entire map with EUDs?

You could then detect if the player's memory has been modified, then end the scenario in defeat.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2006-07-19 at 16:33:49
Well somebody would have to find the offset for that I think. But isn't that what hacks are? Modifying the offsets like EUD Actions did?

I heard they can see invisible text, so just fill the whole screen with invisible texts like WWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW
all over, wouldnt that kinda of then blind them and not any1 else?

How DO map hacks work generally? I know they modify the memory, but how exactly? Does SC have a flag for every "tile" or "pixel" for whether or not that "tile" or "pixel" should have vision? Or is there some overall command perhaps that it uses?

i used anti-kill unit hack by using this.

Center a location ( preferably big ) around a unit that a player has to use, and if no enemies are near it, and it explodes BAM /GG hacker. ( also give a note not to kill your own units. )

Im not sure if it is, you could just use trigger viewer. Whats your name?

I've already tried using the invisible text, and believe me... Its not worth it.
I had it so it constantly said things like 'Leave Fag" all over the screen.
When players tried to type, the message got flooded away. If you don't know what I mean, all text from players on the screen disappeared. It kept the screen clear of messages for all people.

lightbulb.gif Hey, that could be used for a map where you need a radio or something to talk to other players maybe....? .. Or not.

ADDITION:
A good away to annoy players with Auto Ally alerts (it notifies the person when someone allies or unallies them, then auto allies back... don't know if there still is one) you could have a player like p9 constantly ally then unally, forcing them to turn the ally hack thing off.

As for stacking, (this can only be used in a map where players normally see the whole map, or they'll get vision over parts you don't want them to always have vision to) have a computer with vision in the area, and shared vision with the players. As far as I know, you can only stack with lights off, so i'm assuming thats what hack does. If another players giving you vision, you cant stack. Voila. pinch.gif
