Alright, Ive decided to make a daily (or almost daily) map reveiw. I will review one map out of random. Welcome to Mp)Trance's (Almost) Daily Map Reveiw.
First lets start out with a few rules...
Rule #1 - Dont yell at me if your map didnt get a good reveiw, i have my own opinion, and as the admin states: "Be prepared to be criticized as the members of Staredit Network think of maps as if it were artwork."
Rule #2 - I will not release any map author names or information. So dont ask for it.
Rule #3 - I write no lies, if i think the map sucks, be prepared to read it in words. And vice versa.
Rule #4 - I will try my damnedest to beat/finish a map before i reveiw it.
Ok, so lets get started.

Map in question: Katamari Wars v3
Download:
HereAlright, to start out, ive always loved the katamari game for ps2 ever since i first played it. For those of you who have never heard of the game, i will explain how it works.
In the PS2 game, the 'King of all Cosmos' accidentally destroys all the stars in the galaxy. He sends you (His son, the prince) to go to earth and roll up balls of crap as big as you can so that he can turn it into a star, and fix the galaxy he broke. While your playing, you start out as a small ball (about the size of a golf ball) and start out rollin up tacks, screws, peices of candy. After a while, you get bigger and start rolling up larger things like cars, and then buildings, and even clouds in the end. The game doesnt rely on its story to keep you interested, its intended to be purely fun, with no seriousness whatsoever, so your complaints that 'This game is childish' will go ignored.
Alright, so in the map 'Katamari Wars' the creator has set up rows of units that represent objects (Cars, motorcycles, people, ect...) you control an observer which spawns 10 zerglings at the start underneath it. These zerglings represent your katamari's(Katamari means junkball in japanese) power and size. These zerglings follow your observer anywhere and everywhere and attack the objects you run into. The more objects you kill, the more zerglings you get. There are up to 7 players in this game, so thats 7 different katamari's. The objective is to have the largest katamari after the time limit runs out. (I think the time limit was around 15 minutes.) But, you can also run your katamari into an enemies katamari and the zerglings will battle it out, thus the larger katamari makes the smaller one even smaller, to stop it from overcoming yours. Anyways, once your katamari is large enough, it starts spawning stronger units instead of zerglings, such as zealots, ultralisks, hydras, and dragoons. Each unit stronger than the last. And each unit able to roll up more junk faster than the last.
Now that i have explained the rules, i will tell you of my first game on katamari wars. I hosted the game on Bnet, and waited a while and finally two people joined the game. The first seemed very excited that someone had FINALLY hosted this map, because he had been wanting to play it again for a long time. This made me start thinking 'It must be a pretty fun map...'. After the second person joined, we wasted no time, and i started the game.
So, each of us started in a different corner, i started in the top left. I soon realized how the game worked when the zerglings killed a motorcycle and then more zerglings spawned. So i quickly begin to tear away more motorcycles. While i was doing so, i wasnt thinking about the fact that other players could ram me with their katamari. Eventually i looked at the ratings, my katamari was in second place. I looked at blues katamari, and it looked like it could swallow mine whole.
And what do you know? It did, he chased me down and devoured my entire
katamari. I was back at sqare one, with 10 zerglings. I started to eat more motorcycles, and then worked my way up to the 'Old Man With A Stick' which apparantly attacks back. After a while, teal got about 2x larger than blue, and about 4x larger than me, and then teal devoured blue just as easily as blue devoured me.
After a while, the game started getting repetetive, it could do with a larger map and a few more items. It was very fun for the first while, but it doesnt have much replay value. Eventually, the game ended, and teal won with a katamari size of 151.
Trances Game Ratings:
Sound: 0/5 - There were no sounds whatsoever. There should have at least been a sound that played when you picked up an item. Or maybe some fun background music.
Effects: 1/5 - No special effects, other than the 'mass a player' beacon in the middle of the map.
Gameplay: 4/5 - Pretty fun game overall, a very good idea.
Replay Value: 1/5 - This game has very little replay value. Unless you just LOVE watching the same thing happen over and over again. Perhaps if the game had more of a 'city' setting instead of a few squares.
Overall Score: 6/20 - Very fun for the first time playing. But once you win once, there isnt much reason to play it again. Could be a very very nice map if its beefed up a little more.
Do i recommend playing this map?
Its worth playing once or twice with your friends when you have nothing else to do.
