I don't know how good this sounds to you, but it might be interesting to try out.
This could also effectively test someone's map-making ability (though why we'd need to is beyond me) and this could also help boost Map Making Night attendance. Here, I'll explain. People come up with different types of Map-Making contests each week. Some could just be terrain, some could be triggering. Of course we could have various categories like "Movie, Defense, etc." The info would be posted somewhere on here say like every Friday night at 8:00 East and people could have up to the time of Map Making Night to complete their map.
Hmmm.... in case any of you want to try this out, here is some terrain.
Rules
-Don't make any modifications to terrain, doodads and sprites are alright
-Anything else goes!
Just so you know, that terrain sucked!
I'ma win because everyone loves me so.
No one said the terrain has to be great... Why would I waste that much time (I only spent like 15 minutes on terrain) when the contest isn't even about the terrain? It's not like I'm actually really making a map...
I'm just kidding, buddy!
While a contest isn't a bad idea, I think this is probably the wrong forum for it. This should probably go in Off Topic, since it has nothing to do with bugs, nor does it really provide any feedback about SEN. On the topic of the contest, though, I think the best way to do it would be to do a series of challenges. Little, difficult bits, to really stretch map-makers skills to the limit. If it's too long, it'll be not worthwhile. If it's short and sweet, though, I'd love to do it.
creating an entire map just for one night?
i don't think a lot of people will want to participate, moogle had an idea just like this, and about 3 people signed up
hey WoA-Felagund i took your map and spiced it up a bit.
didn't really spend time with doodads and sprites much its just the basic layout.
Meh I like the job you did on the docks but I don't see why you changed essentially everything about the map... you have too much time on your hands. Anyways, you left the little metal outcropping on the dirt wall at (24,32, i.e. about the center of the map). Was that on purpose? You people have gotten me into checking all the walls for little oddities like that.
That terrain looks awesome bolt
Yeah, good job. I'll let you do all my terrain from now on.
I didn't really spend much time on it, it was just copied didn't really think about all that sort of stuff.
