Storyline / Introduction

Each team of 2 players has their own individual goals.  You are racing each other to complete your goals before the other player.

Features

-Player Interface
Playing the game depends on which race you are.

Zerg- Zerg players will add new units to build when they kill some.  For example, killing a few marines will allow you to build infested terrans.  The ultimate goal for the zerg is to destroy all the other players.

Terran- The terran players are trying to place an Ion Cannon in the middle of the map.  After the cannon has been constructed, it will takes some time to activate.  After the cannon has activated, the terran players win.

Protoss- The protoss players are trying to find the two randomly placed crystals.  After both have been found, they are to be brought to the Xel'Naga temple.  The protoss player wins.

-What's new in your map that others have not done before?
•The race specific goals, and the zerg playing style.

Latest update: I've done some of the terran players starting area as well as some resource placement.

Old updates: Cannon system is done Has not been checked for bugs, but it is theoretically bugless. Terrain started.

Good luck on the map, seems like a pretty good idea, as long as you do it unglitchy...(and balanced)

Balancing is going to be hard. Lots of play testing should let me find out what needs balancing.

Here's a suggestion: If it's randomly placed crystals, make it far away from the Protoss, or near the Zerg/Terrans.

Perhaps put the crystals inside the Zerg/Terran bases.

Those two ideas mean that the Protoss will have to play like the Zerg (offensive) but also play like Terran to defend their temple (defensive).

Ducky, make sure you put a lot of effort balancing things out!

The extra computer player is designed to protect the crystal. It's going to have several bases, and will have a decent AI.

I will. That's why I'm going to get lots of testers.

Note: Don't ask to be a tester. I don't need them yet, I'll ask for them when I'm ready.

"Decent AI" is a conflict of terms in SC.

Can I be a tester? tongue.gif

NO!

By decent, I meant they'll defend themselves. And the AI's skill is all relative to the player. I myself have fallen into a lapse of no melee. My melee skill is back to suck. The computers are as good as me.

Altered SC! Fun map, but the balance was bad since zerg owned everyone when I played it.

Good Luck with the map!

(I'm a good melee player! biggrin.gif )

When you say that when the zerg units kill enemies and they then are able to make new units, like Infested Terran, does that mean that without killing a zerg player wouldn't be able to build basic units like Hydralisks?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by dumbducky on 2006-07-24 at 10:18:37
No. The zerg will be able to build all of their units. They will be able to buy more units after they kill more men. If the zerg player kills, say ten, dark templars, they will then be able to purchase weakened dark templars.

yah it sounds like it could be fun but... Balance is what i want to see like protoss it seems has it pretty easy all they do is have to find crystals ><!! But good luck!!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by dumbducky on 2006-07-24 at 11:54:19
The crystals will be hidden in enemy bases, and the Xel'Naga temple will be destroyable. So, no temple means there objective changes to regular melee.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by AshaMeD on 2006-07-24 at 12:56:08
aright... If they will be in your enemys bases... then it seems that it would be harder then all the rest ><! Because like for terran all they do is need to bring a crap load of units to the middle and protect the cannon... and they win!! See im not trying to make this hard on you.. But ><!! It would really suck if 1 race was ezier!! then the other!

In order to build the Ion Cannon, you have to build 3 Science Facilities in the Ion Cannon spot. After it is constructed, you have to wait five minutes for it to charge up. After the charging is complete, game over. It's a lot more balanced than you think. Theoretically. I still have to test it.

How are the Terrans gonna build up the Ion Cannon?

EDIT: Nevermind my question, the answer popped up just after posting! happy.gifU

I think the terrans might be bored.. nobody wants to play a melee where all they do is kill a few units and build science facilitys and sit around and wait. And, i think altogether it would be bad, because it would be really hard to stop the protoss from retreiving these crystals, because you have to let all your hope rely on those computers (Which arent very good). The zerg sounds awsome, but it will be harder for them, unless their units are really strong. because by the time zerg has killed terran, the protoss will probably have their crystals. And if they go after protoss first, the terran will probably have their cannon.

Perhaps you shouldnt make the Xel Naga, and the Cannon make them INSTANTLY win, you should just make it weaken the enemy alot, but leave them with a very small chance.
