Staredit Network -> Concepts -> Disable-enable Cloaking System?

I've seen in Nozumo's cloaked zergling blood that if you have vision turned off with yourself and then you create a zergling and have it disable then reenabled quickly, it will cloak. I was wondering if anybody has done any research on this and which units it works with and so on. I tried it with a Science Vessel once, it cloaked but you couldn't order it around.

Scroll near the bottom for a list and add in "Start Location" as well.

I had the patience for test them ALL! 227 units mean lots of crashes!!!

You did that a long, long time ago, if I recall correctly. This isn't exactly a new concept. How long did it take you to test 'em all?

It says in the guide that you can cloak tassadar, but mine keeps crashing. It worked for my firebat and I just redid the trigger and it crashes.

You have to order the unit to move, right? Well, High Templars react slower to a move order than most units. Have it wait 1000 milliseconds after the move order before giving the players a chance to look at it and it should work.

You could probably cloak almost anything if you time it right. Check out what I did to this Zealot, I remember showing DK this awhile ago. It turned randomly in the game, but I can't obviously show that with a still image. tongue.gif

In my tests I used '111'ms waits.

Hey now I know where people came up with "Burrow a Zealot"! They probably thought it was burrowed since it isn't there.

Cloaked Units? I remember my friend told me if you got the waits right while making stackable units, they'd cloak... and it worked with my Zlot, though it crashed after a moment...
Cloaked Zlots and Zerglings... how many ways are there of doing this? Wasn't there something about p161 or something?

EHy even thoguh the zerlgins look cloaked on cloaked zerlging blood. They are only disabled. You can still see that the enemy units are there. ANy way to fix this?

You're going to have outlines of cloaked units all the time. You can't do anything about that.

Here's what I did in Cloaked Wars to stop that. I just set up a secluded part of the map, where each player gets a detector, in this case a cerebrate, then you create the unit, disable-enable it, then move it to the detectors area, wait a bit, like 1000 millis, then move it to where you want it.

Seems like a lot to do, just to cloak your unit! Create it, Enable it, Disable it move it, teleport it, just to make them cloaked! Why just just make your own version of Starcraft and have them cloaked, thats what i did when i was bored!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Nozomu on 2004-08-11 at 17:25:55
Because that's way too easy. I did it to challenge myself. And at the time, it was a challenge.

yeah i did some clocking testing before where i was terren and i had a cloaking mechinism and it would return units i gave it, to me cloaked. but then if i click on some of them they would crash me. i had like 2 or 3 the crashed on sight. then i would send them into a computer who is my enemy and attck em. i got really weird responceses. the enemy had gas!!! and i dident give them a gyser, just minerals. case they started throwign me carriors and censored.gif .

You can do both. When you do disable-enable you should have a wait in between.
