I work with SCMDraft and I know that it's briefing editor is worthless. But how can I create a briefing for a map if X-Tra Special mode deletes a mass load of units on openin g that map.
And if you come up with the make a new map in X-Tra and create a briefing and use other programs to import it into your map, then please tell me exactly what to do and if the map loses some information on these steps.
did you open with special mode(5)? cause the only ones i think it'd delete are sprites.
i don't quite remember the solution to this, but i think starforge has a wroking briefing editor, so try that.
You could download SF, and I hear Ube3 or 2 can import stuff.

My stacked units are gone
Is there no small program just for briefings? I heard alot of bad rumors on SF is it as bad (probably destroys map?).
it is, just make a backup though before you use it and you should be fine. and w/e you do, don't click on the isom brush.
I personally doesn't like SF, but I'd hardly say it destroys maps. I use scmdraft for almost everything, but one thing I use SF for is breifings.
If you don't get the SF briefing editor, which is possible since you've probably never used it before, an idea would be to create a briefing in xtra on a test map and open that test map in SF to copy its briefing to your map.

Ok I'll try it later with a backup of my map. And another question just came up, can I somehow do what you told me with SCMDraft. I mean copy the briefing, because I would do anything to not have to touch SF which would be my 4th editor for just 1 game.
If you try to edit your briefing in scmdraft, it will appear as a black screen when you go to play it. You have to do it with xtra or SF.
Just copy the script on SCMDraft's breifing editor and paste it on the one you want it on.
I never had a black screen when I used SCMDraft's breifing editor, so I don't know whats with that.

Now I just installed SF. Anyways there is a save and load button for briefings in SF but they don't seem to work for me. And I have no idea how to copy a briefing from one map to another in SF and SCMDraft.
Can someone tell me what steps you usually do to get a briefing from one map to another with copying.
In these 2 Threads people talk about copying briefings but no one tells how it works:
Thread 1Thread 2Sorry for not telling you before. For SF, you don't actually copy the briefings as a whole, but simply copy the actions for each briefing, seeing as though it is text-based. SCMDraft you can copy the entire thing instead of just briefing by briefing, but like I said, it always shows up as nothing in-game for me whenever I use scmdraft. Most of the time you only have 1 "briefing" anyways, so it's all just 1 copy in SF.

Copied 1 part of the briefing, copied other part, and copied last part. Works fine now!
Thanks alot!
