in my rpg map, i plan to make the characters' faces show up like in the old style rpgs with their portraits and text next to them
i need a good program that turns a pic to text to make it look like the face
i hope this is a new concept...

Sorry i dont know any but that sounds like a very interesting concept. i dont beleive it would be possible though... i wonder if that would work with a tactics RPG like bring up a map or something. great idea if it works...which it prolly wont but still

I don't think text-image.com will be useful in this situation, all it does is colorize text, and StarCraft's text colors are very limited. Any ascii image you make in-game is going to be very low resolution, and most likely won't look much like a face. The best thing to do is probably to make a small iconic text figure to represent the character. Instead of the character's face being shown, it would be more like a logo. Just something unique to each character that you display while they are talking.

I'm not sure if I understand you right but if you try to do this with ingame text I'll just say omg this is gonna be some messy text there. Like half of the screen filled with a text image

I'm not sure, but it is available for download in the DLDB. I found it accidently while look for visual runtimes or visual basic.

ASCII picture generators assume you're using a font with set widths, but the SC font is definitely not one of them.

you might be able to pull it off but i suggest sticking with the ingame portraits in the bottom of the screen
you could make it so when your man was selected the portrait in the corner that was assosiated with him was displayed like with the heros in the campaigns, or i guess it would have to be displayed at all times, but still it would be cool
