Well after being disappointed with Tuxedo-Templar's minesweeper map I made my own.

Features
  • Gameplay exactly like normal minesweeper
  • Right Click by casting Disruption Web
  • Left Click by casting Dark Swarm
  • A restart feature

Restart
Now you can restart without re-hosting just by moving a civ.

That was a different map, so far of the two people who have played it they have both liked it. I'm waiting for a DLDB manager to accept the map and then I will post the link.

Is it all randomized, or are there set levels?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2006-07-31 at 16:02:05
It's all randomized and when you restart it will re-randomize everything again.

Download link up.

Thats a good idea to make the restart feature! Saves a lot of time from ending the game then creating another. Good job on the map, looks descent, I like it

Thanks.

I fixed a small bug. It doesn't affect gameplay that much I just forgot to reset the extra live thing when you restart. You can redownload if you want to.

IMO this is better than Tux's version smile.gif (both are still good though) This feels cleaner and more smooth. It's easier to see what I'm doing smile.gif

Only thing I don't like about it is that it's single player and there's no difficulty setting. But still really great.

I was going to introduce different difficulty settings but I didn't make the map big enough because I never thought of that. Maybe sometime I'll remake it to allow for that. Thanks for the post though.

Is it just me or when I've marked all the mines, the game won't end, the timer keeps on counting! I tried thrice!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Urmom(U) on 2006-08-13 at 14:40:04
I haven't had a failed victory yet. Maybe you marked a spot without a mine that wasn't supposed to be marked.

Good job urmom! I agree with MillenniumArmy. (thanks for the crazy burrow map by the way)

I liked the single unit control better. =/

Do you mean the mutalisk controls in Tux's map? Well originally I was going to use burrow and Dark Swarm. Burrow would mark the spots and Swarm would function as it is now. I had issues though with the placement of the marked units and the defiler unburrowing though so I scrapped the idea. Thanks for the comments and np Sopris.

Nothing to say except great job. (i agree on the controls, it got old pretty fast doing that.)

The reason' tux's map was fun is the fact that it was multiplayer and you were playing against each other for the most uncovered. If it is just a single player game y not play the actual mine sweeper?

I didn't actually play this. but i assume it is one player because you used dark swarm and distribution web.

I could maybe make it multiplayer. It would take a lot of adjusting and complex ways to detect who is firing Dark Swarm or Disruption Web. I just mainly wanted to see if I could replicate Minesweeper into Starcraft. I'll consider making it multiplayer though.

syrsly Multi-Player would make it more 1337er

you wouldn't even have to detect who's casting. make it a teamwork minesweeper. but then, if some noob sets off a mine i guess you all lose. the game would just be greatly inhanced with multiplayer.

This version of Minesweeper is on a 10x10 grid and has 13 mines.

Maybe you can make a customization version.
Having mines range in 13 to 64.

Maybe you can make one with 52 levels in it (up to 64 mines)

Unlike in the windows version, you have a second chance if you hit a mine.

Well I have it so that a random amount of mines is placed on the field.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by TheKeyToKilling on 2006-09-21 at 13:06:42
on the real Minesweeper your first click is always a safe spot... on your map can you lose on the first click or not?

Hmm I never knew about that. tongue.gif
I suppose that I could fix the game to accommodate for that but right now it seems useless. Maybe if I remake the map to ideas that I had I could put that feature in.

it shouldn't be too hard, just have the first Dwev start the randomization process.
