Earth 2020: Diplomacy Evolved
Hey Guys and gals and random internet anomolies! I, like many others, enjoy a good game of Diplomacy once and a while! However, have found the following things absolutely WRONG with the gametype:
-It Encourages Over-extension of your territory, in real life an Empire would crumble without a decent infrastructure first! If you overextend things should happen- like revolts -to hamper your progress.
-Its to simple, usualy all I do is mass up one unit and rush, ending up with 90% of the map in the process.
My solution you ask? Well its rather simple, and a pretty nifty Idea at that. My map will include the following, all I need is help executing it:
-Upgradable Infrastructure- Commerical, Industrial, Residential.
-Comercial would get you more export, Industrial would give you more gas per round and residential would give your people better schools and stuff, so they're more loyal to you.
-No special units per country, every special is upgradable- meaning you don't start with it you must actually BUY it. And Im making it so every special HAS A WEAKNESS! So you don't just mass it.
-If you overextend- Revolts will happen randomly! Unless you have units policing that city-state it may revolt and attmept to overthrow you(In otherwords spawn some marines and blow up your depot). I've seen this in some older diplomacies but its disappeared over the years.
-A black market ^_^ Thats right folks! A Black Market.
Overall this game I'd hope will revamp the age-old "Mass craploads of men and destroy the world" vision most people have about diplomacy. I'll come up with more ideas to implement as time goes on, but for now those are the main things I want to do. I want this game to encourage countries to remain somewhat smaller and rather than mass- work on your technology and your infrastructure.
Its gonna be set on a custom landscape- not just a copy of Europe. I'm gonna come up with my own set of terrain for this one since every diplomacy map seems to use the geography of western Eurasia and just that. So I'll put it up for Download here once its done ^_^ any comments or questions or tips? Feel free to post them!
Addition: Im gonna also be implementing Politics that actually mean something! I saw this in Civilizations, so I'm gonna use it here too.
And Since everyone is complaing about me not using a template here you flippin' go. Now shut up. I also know that this isn't brief, but w/e.
Progress
-Ideas•Black Market System- Still refining, need help with the triggers.
•Political System- Need some help refining but I have the basic Ideas of how its going to work.
•Infrastructure Upgrades- Have the basics down, now I need the triggering to get done.
•Units- As far as names go I haven't even began yet, but will do so once the terrain is finished.
-Terrain•Finished up with the top section, where the upgrades for infrastructure and the black market are located.
-Unit placement•As above, I just finihed up the upgrades area.
-Triggers•my partner will be helping me out with this once I finish up the terrain work ^_^.

Storyline / Introduction
Basically like most Diplomacy maps, the main exception being the fact that this does NOT incourage over-extension of your empire. In fact: it doesn't like it when you do it. Players battle it out for control over the world of Earth: 2020, while also keeping their own infrastructure intact- Politics, Industry, Taxes and of course Loyalty.
Features
-Player InterfaceThe interface hasn't changed much from most normal Diplomacy Maps, but its more involved with managing your country and such.
-What's new in your map that others have not done before?•Infrastructure is very important.
•A working Black Market system!
•Politics affect how you play the game.
Details
-How the Infrastructure works.•Comercial will raise how much tax dollars you get per round.
•Industry affects the gas (oil) output of your factories and oil pumps.
•Residential will affect your peoples loyalty to you, will they revolt at the drop of a hat? Or will you be able to draft a amassive army and send it out without worrying about your people overthrowing your rule?
