Pokémon XD: Legends (Discontinued)

The Ultimate Pokémon Experience. Ever. A new region, a new journey.

This map is going to be discontinued due to revamping the battle system. I'm going to try to work on a new Pokémon map with the battle system from the Gameboy games like everyone suggested. ^-^. Virtual HP, techs, and all that type advantages/disadvantages and stuff. Over and out, for now.

Storyline / Introduction

Journey across a new region of Pokémon playing the role of one trainer out of 4. Every character has their own set of goals to accomplish in life. Read character descriptions below for more details.

Features

-Player Interface
You are a Pokémon Trainer out of the four characters. Players will journey across a vast new region of Pokémon. Ash will take on gyms to earn badges to compete in the league while May partakes in Pokémon Contests. Players will be able to train and catch a huge variety of Pokémon.

-Map Features
•A large roster of Pokémon to catch & train. (+40 units!)
•Six large towns.
•Battle system inspired by Death Knights 3.
•Double Battles. (2 on 2 at once)
•Battle Gym Leaders to earn badges.
•Trading/Battling with other players.
•Pokémon Contests.
•Daytime/Nightime feature that incorporates different wild Pokémon encountered at different shifts of the day.
•Berry blending to create PokéBlocks (used to increase contest stats). Berries are found in Berry Trees in the wilderness.
•Secrets and sidequests.
•Hive system used to switch Pokémon during a battle. Each unit built represents a different Pokémon party slot(most battles use one of your Pokémon at a time).
•Hatcheries are used to target a specific Pokémon when using items. Building a specific unit represents a specific slot(ex: Using a Potion on a Pokémon at slot #5).

It'll be very similar to the Gameboy Advance Pokémon games if you ever played them. To catch the Pokémon, you still have to kill the unit. However it will decrease your amount of Poké Balls and there's a random chance that it will escape.

Nope...just had wierd incidents when they were popular back a few years ago. myfriends were into the cards, trade them, friends bugging me how they got rare cards, people sold them on ebay for lots of cash, etc...and it was a fad everywhere...now it just decapitated it into sort of a neutral state...

but i think the games are pretty fun...so good luck with your map.

Putting up something in production late is actually a bit of a good thing. You don't lose as much momemtum between the project start and the finishing of the project. Of course, you'll need to moderate when you put it up for production, so that you actually build enough momentum in the first place.

So you're basing this off the show? That's what it seems like. Since there simply isn't enough units for 250+ Pokemon, I wonder which ones you'll keep, and which ones you won't keep.

I really, really thought I put this map in production early. At least 90% of the map is going to be triggers. And that is something that would probably take me a couple months to finish. w00t.gif

The characters are based off the show, however, they are in a completely new region I made up in my head with new cities and blah blah. I'm keeping most of the original Pokémon and some of the new cooler ones. There are also some legendaries which I cannot reveal yet.

It's because most of them are outdated. They were great at their own time.

Are you using virutal HP to keep track of health? If so, why not make the Pokemon catchable when their health gets low, not when they die?

Don't let the Pokemon escape. That only happened in the Gameboy games with the Safari Zone, the three special legendary non-birds in Gold/Silver, and really annoying ones like Abra who teleport out. And trust me, it's REALLY annoying when that happens.

By the way, how are you randomizing Pokemon appearances? E.g. some are more rare than others.

Yeah that escape thing is stupid and annoying.

Also i suggest you dont randomize for all the monster spawnings or a high level pokemon would spawn in a low level place tongue.gif

I could work out a way for them not to escape if you really want it. I didn't think it was that important anyways seeing as you'll just have another chance to catch it. I won't be using virtual HP. I might for another Pokémon map in the future though.

I don't even know who that person is. I'm basing most of this off of the Pokémon Gameboy Games. I'm not stealing from anyone. blink.gif

If you didn't notice, most Pokémon maps follow a certain style. Why? Because there's things you can't do in Pokémon maps and there's things you're suppose to add in it. Most Pokémon maps are similar if you've ever played them.
