Normal map dimensions are: 64, 96, 128, 192, 256.
As long as one of the map dimensions is a standard size, the other one can be pretty much anything under 256. For example, you could have a map that is 32x64, or 64x32 and it would be perfectly fine.
I both map dimensions are non-standard sizes then you'll have to play another map first. For example if you make a map that is 32x32 and you start up starcraft and play it without playing another map first, you crash.
