I'm working on a map but this morning when i woke-up.. i could not open the map.. i thought i've protected her.. but no.. i tryed to play her.. but it say: This map is corrupted [...] ranting.gif
So how can i uncorrupt her???.. or anythings.. because i've almost finish her.. and i realy wana end that..

man, it sounds like your not guna get that map back. maybe the map editor you are using is glitchy. you should save your files in a different name every time you save. for instance, Map1.0... Map1.1... Map1.2... I usually have like 30-50 different file names at the end of producing a map, just incase i need to go back.

and hrm.. if Starforge and X-tra editor are bugging.. it will make a huge problem..

30-50 files?? what if i save every 10 min. for a mounth.. because that what i usualy do.. good luck finding the good one after crazy.gif

starforge is quite the buggy/corrupting program. and using it with another editor... no wonder your map is corrupted. i recommend switching to a SCMD2 and Xtra combo. however if you insist on SF, then use it by itself. its very unfriendly with other editors.

and hrm.. Sf work well.. but maybe i should think about draft.. but.. anyway..anyone have an idea for my map?? because i realy dont want to restart the map to the start.. all my triggers... all my sprite.. everythings.. il die before..

Click Add Reply on the bottom right.
Look below the smily faces and click on choose. Find your map using the window that comes up and double click on it. Click Add This Attachment. Type in "This is the map" click add reply.

A few people here know how to hand edit maps and may possibly be able to fix it. I work with the CHK on an almost daily basis so I'll take a look at it as soon as I see you post it.

Terms you might not understand
CHK: Scm\Scx files are archive files. Archive files are like zip files. Inside the Scm\Scx file is the CHK file. The CHK file contains the actual information about the map.

K i'll take a look at it right now.

It looks as if the MPQ itself is corrupt. An MPQ file is what we call the archive.

I've only begun working with MPQ files by hand and would have no idea how to fix your map. Infact few people would, I'd say less than 20 outside of Blizzard. It may be possible to extract the CHK out of the MPQ, however probably not.

However, doesn't Starforge automatically save backups of maps?

Sf did.. but the back-up is lost.. i cant find out where he have put him.. all my other back are w/ his map.. but this one is missing.. the map have simply bugged.. i've searched all my cpu for the back.. and nada.. he desapeared..
whats a luck?

Could someone who uses starforge point him to where the back-ups are located?

After looking at the MPQ some more it looks as if the Block and Hash tables were not written. If anyone like SI, DW, or Shadowflare can tell me i'm right then I'd know i'm reading it good so far.

The map data might still be there but it would be compressed. I'm not entirely sure what compression techniques Starforge uses or if I'll be able to decompress them.

my back are alway send in the same folder that the map.. but this one is not there..


But,maybe i've found something.. i've tryed to open the map with Uberation..{we never know..} and it say this: The file Staredit/Scenario.chk was not found!

SF normally makes its backups in the same folder as the parent file, therefore making them extremely hard to miss. If it was Awesomeness.scx, the backup would be Awesomeness.bak.scx, in the same folder. I am not aware how/if you can change the default backup settings.

Sorry, the reason Uberation cannot find the CHK file is due to what seems to be a missing Hash and Block table.
It may be possible to extract the files if they are there, however it is a diffilcult task that i'm not really up to. Maybe if the files wern't compressed, then it would be easier. For all I know there encrypted to.

but how could that be encrypted.. i've just saved like alway.. making sure to DO NOT select the protection.. very strange.. anyway.. i think ill just rm the map.. and call this one lost.. so hrm.. thanks for the help.. and to have tryed..

Im not talking the CHK being encrypted. Im talking about the actual MPQ being encrypted. The MPQ has encryptions.

Oh! anyway.. ill try to triggerview to take back some trigger.. because i've rmed all the map.. but some of my trigger was unique.. and i cant redo em.. i dont remember how.. XD so if it doesnt work.. ill do it with the old long way.. blink.gif

TriggerView will not work. No program can archive a corrupted MPQ. If no program can archive the MPQ then no program can read the map file inside it.

that truth.. but i lost some trigger.. i can't redo em.. dont remember how i did.. i tryed but.. aw anyway.. ill find out how i did it first time.. i've rmed all the doodads+the units and all.. only one thing remain.. the damned triggers.. But today i have a good feeling.. ill find it!

did you ever player WoS 3? the trigger to enter the buildings is only a single location alway following your hero.. when you go near the building it move your hero where you want.. but i can do this part.. but the location must stay near the building because you want the hero to reapear here when he will exit the building.. but the problem is.. the location move to the center of the map.. i've tryed to put a Observer and say: if player X bring a CC in location X(the loc. folowing the hero)
move all obs of player9 at locX (P9 wont move because he's neutral..) and Move loc on Obs of P9.. taht part work (badly but work) but when i leave the building.. it send me near the CC..(like a want) but the hero re-enter.. (normal.. the loc. is there) so i tryed w/ switches..(screwed) i tryed w/ a unit who act like a switch(worst) and w/ Wait (just screw all my triggers) so i dont know what to do now..

ADDITION:
I think i got it.. Yup..It work.. Let try it with the map now..
I did a new map only to test that.. the map have less than 10 Triggers,4Locations
and 3 Units..
So the problem was:
-I was using too much switches (only 2 was needed)
-I've messed with the Wait Trigger.. (Puting wait as first action screw the trigger and do like if there was no trigger at all)
-I tryed to fix it by adding things..But i forgot to remove the one who wasnt working..

Anyway.. here the "Test Map".. can you tell me if something is wrong?
