IP said he had a backup of the forums the day before it was hacked, so are we ever going to go back to that? I was thinking about starting some of the old stickied topics, but I don't want to waste my time if we are going to go back.

Theoretically bringing back that forum backup would erase all the topics and posts that have been made since that save, right? I'm just wondering because I'd then have to go back and save some posts I've made to repost them.

It would. The backup would put the forum back to the way it was before the hack. On the plus side, you get posts/minerals/stickied topics back. Unfortunately, you lose all posts made after the hack.

Hmm okay. I don't even remember how many posts I had before the hack. I lost all my posts from the Patch topics, but other than that I think I gained it all back in new posts since the hack happened.


Hmm I have a new chore now. I gotta get my posts from the Lite Discussion topics to repost. Joy.

But eventually it will happen? Unless it takes too long.. and if it doesnt happen, what abotu them mods/people who lost what they lost..? How will they be reimbursted?

Well, if a backup gets put in place... everything will be as it was when the backup was taken.

If I used any backup, it would have been an automatic one. I think since then, it's been overwritten.

So that would mean that the backup dumbducky speaks of does not exist? What would happen to all the people who had their minerals and posts taken away, you then go based on their word as to how many posts they had and such?

A script will be made in the near future to fix the post counts to whatever posts they have in the forums as of now. I can't do too much about the posts that got deleted.

Ah okay, that's what I was talking about. Kaboom went from well over 1500 to a negative amount, that's why I was concerned. Of course post and mineral count means diddly squat in the grand scheme of things, but at least it would have been nice for them to get their posts back Oh well.

A backup will probably not be used.
Posts that got deleted won't be restored because there's no way to figure that out. A script will most likely be made to restore the post counts that still exist.

and yeah i find the magical "script" bette than having a back up after all what the people want is the post count and minerals.

IP, can you please reset my minerals back to 0? I had loads of posts in the big topics hacker deleted so Im at -3200 now.

Also add 300 posts back.
