Diplo - Infinity ² (Codename: "Xtreme")

This is version 2.3. There is no direct story since this is a Diplomacy map. There are however several "modes" you can select which are actually different games in the same map. There are 4 modes: Diplomacy, Economics, Phantom and War.

Progress

Diplomacy Mode = 95%
Economics Mode = 90%
Phantom Mode = 99%
War Mode = 5%

Features

- Diplomacy Mode: Just like any Diplomacy you expand and conquer new territory. You make allies and you crush your enemies. This mode is considered to be the "default" mode.

- Economics Mode: Fairly complex mode that is somewhat similar to the map Civilization. The person with the highest economy after 1.25 hours wins.

- Phantom Mode: This works just like the map Phantom.. One player is randomly selected to be the Phantom. No one knows who.. but he must be destroyed at all costs. For the Phantom to win, he must destroy the other players by often tricking them into destroying each other.

- War Mode: there are 7 Empires. The game is set up as 3v3v1. Only one team can remain. This mode is not about diplomacy but about war.

Specifications

- To get a much more indepth explanation of these modes especially Economics mode (which is complex) please visit:

This is the official tutorial for Infinity 2.2a. This should give you some insight into this version as well.

OR

This is the topic where I explain much more indepth what is new in this version. Please note I would NOT name this project "Xtreme" if I wasn't adding some Xtreme things in there.

This website is a Diplomacy website which can offer a more in depth explanation of the map and others too. heh

Screenshots / Demo

- Of course there is no Demo until I am done because the map would just be too buggy. Here are some preview pics.

Help!

- If you have any suggestions please post em'. Also, the latest public build is v2.2a. If there are any bugs from that version please post them here. Bugs from prior/old versions were probably fixed.

Made with Production Template (keep this link to help propagate this template or you get smitten!)

Whoa, looks really cool. I think this map might have what it takes to draw in Non-diplo players...

Suggestions... let's see... make it more newb-playable? I also see your using the new colors right? Um... how did you get them?

Diplomacy infinity II got me into diplomacy. Hope this is just as good, if not better!

Yes, this version is huge. It uses Hyper Triggers and massively improves the modes. Especially Economics mode will be much easier to understand. Since v2.1, I've had a help guide, but it wasn't too easy to use. I have completely revamped it and now it's very helpful. (this should make the map more newb friendly) The Help Guide explains EVERYTHING there is to know. From how to get minerals and oil to how to play Economics Mode. Of course, once I'm done I'll send in the map to be hosted here!

So few responses.. ranting.gif Why aren't people responding? Is there something missing in map description?!

It's just a bit plain and there's alot to read. People like easy to read stuff I've found. Are you going to make the terrain more flashy? Before it was all a bit plain, it'd be great if you could make the terrain better.

Ahhh! Sry, I didn't realize it was a lot to read.. I don't see how the terrain is plain.. it looks almost exactly like Europe. What can I do to "pump up" the terrain. tongue.gif

Seems very interesting.

4 modes in one map. But the "mode" is choosable at the beginning and cannot be changed after that, i recommend making 4 different maps. Smaller in size, faster to download and no confusion at the beginning of the game, like " HEY I WANTED WAR MODE ".

Well, it's the host who (usually) chooses the mode and the map size really isn't that huge at all (smaller than 400kb). Now, the modes are there to give the map more edge, so if you don't feel like playing one mode.. you play another! heh. I just need lots of feedback to make this map really good... please post all you can. helpsmilie.gif

The first 3 modes seem to be pretty much done, can you just disable War Mode and release a demo?

So this means host can change between modes at any time he wants ?
If so, then its very nice feature. As i said before, you should make different maps only if the mode choosing is done only onec at the beginning.

I think it looks good and with lots detail this could be an awsome map...i like the unit name colors smile.gif

It'd be nice if there was a list of the special units and where you get them somewhere which can be referred to at anytime. Like a line of neutral units or something...

Each mode is unique and is not "a setting". It's almost like having 4 maps in 1. Suddenly switching seems pointless. I just don't see "well, enough Diplo! Let's play some Phantom mode!". closedeyes.gif

The process for selecting your nation in the beginning has been completely revamped. You can see the specials of all nations that you can start off as. Of course this doesn't include ALL specials, but most. tongue.gif

This looks really cool bro, i hope u finish it...
Report, edit, etc...Posted by luisv on 2006-08-17 at 21:05:20
Oh, I will.. trust me. It's not like a lot of other maps.. that seem AMAZING but are never finished.

SMALL UPDATE:

Diplomacy Mode: 95%
Economics Mode: 100%
Phantom Mode: 100%
War Mode: 5%

So, now work begins on the War mode!

I've always made Beta a private-house testing, but I can definately see the advantages to a public Beta. Thoughts? tongue.gif

Definitely! More people testing means more feedback.

True. Yay! I'll have to think about this. Hum.. I could use more feedback on those who have played previous versions of this map. disgust.gif

I thought we @ Mirrora agreeded on private beta as it could damage infinitys reputation.

By the way the new country selection of mind contorling the specail is awesome.

How do the dark templar countries of Belgium and Turkey get selected?

The Beta testing will begin in 2 weeks or so. This thread contains a LOT more information than here. tongue.gif
