Well because of the aids conference might as well I add this topic. For those who don't know what A.I.D.S is, it is a world known diease of the H.I.V virus. A.I.D.S is very crippling and can do harms buy damaging the immune system leaving the body open and eventually lowers the life span to 2-10 years.

Now the A.I.D.S conference. It happend this week talking about the issues of A.I.D.S once again. How it can ruin lives and loved ones. But some special people were there. Bill clinton and Mr. and Mrs. Gates. One of the richest people in the world. If your a apple user then he should be your enemy. So now Bill gates donatated 500million dollars (enough to buy every game system in the world) to help find a vaccine. Isn't that a relief but that will take time. For Bill Clinton he has some friends that can help out with the sitution. Right now these 2 men are trying to put an end to the once known disease that infected millions.

So what do you think. Will A.I.D.S be conqured and save humanity as we know it or will it still be a raging virus?

The fastest way to cure AIDS is to infect all the world's scientists with HIV.

2. AIDS isn't a virus, it's a symptom of HIV.

When we will find a cure to HIV/AIDS it will mutate and we will have to start all over again.

Thier money should be spent trying to buy condoms so the rest of the world doesnt get infected. Even if they do find a cure it will probolly not be cost efficient and as jammed said it will probolly mutate.

Well if all that stuff DOES happen, you can count on HIV going away for good!

Condoms can save you from alot of problems. Use them wisely Don't have sex if your drunken and like wtf I don't need any protection.

I think you can never really cure the virus becuase it mutates so much. But I do think we can develop things to prevent it from getting in people.

instead of looking for a vaccine, i think they should quarantine every person on the planet with AIDS and reinact the holocaust

But, I'm sure there's a way to cure it or make a vaccine. But some people mentioned it would probably mutate after we vaccine it. There is a good chance that that would happen all though my science teacher told my class, during a lesson about evolution, that the thing that's really changing and evolving in present day, just happen to be viruses. So that meens that there is a good chance that if we cure HIV/AIDS that mroe viruses will pop up. I think its great that Bill Gates donated all that money to the cause. But if viruses are indeed evolving like my science teacher said, it is possible that over time the virus might even be able to over come the vaccine... right?

I'd say the only people who would be happy to find a cure is for the rampant sex addicts, who will contract some other disease instead. [/jk]

The truth is, is that some people have the genetics to fight HIV by themselves. Although this is nice to know it doesn't really help out many people, the thing scientists will have to do is closly look at the HIV virus, mimic properties of the protiens located along the outer protien membrane and create a structure similar to it, administer it to white blood cells, and tada, you've cured one person.

Finding a vaccine wouldn't stop a pandemic, only if we were to give it to billions of people throughout the world, which nobody is generous enough to do. (Bill Gates spent 500 million, with an M, means he doesn't care enough )

For the last time there resherching a vaccine a cure will be nearly to impossible to find. Or it would be so much money we would be poor because A.I.D.S is such a hard sympton to control thus the only thing close enough to help is a vaccine.

A "Cure" in the terms of killing the virus after a person is infected would be impossible to make. As a virus infects you by entering your cells (or injecting them with genetic code) and so the "cure" in that sense would have to kill your own tissue, which wouldn't help at all. "Cure" in terms of virus defense, means vaccine, as it stops the problem from happening.

A "cure" of the sort you are talking about would only be possible if it was microspcopic robots or something that would recognize viruses that our body does not and destroys them, targeting infected cells. We are quite a ways from even developing something like that.

If people reduced acting on their "urges" like wild animals then perhaps it would be slightly reduced. Also, people who infect others without telling them should be jailed. Lastly, testing for all major STD's should be free and encouraged. Education and acting more decent will result in a win against AIDS.

The problem isn't particularly in countries like the US or the UK, but developing countries where a majority of people are uneducated, too poor for protection, or view the use of condoms with disfavor.

Instead of wasting time, money, and manpower on a cure that most likely isn't going to do much good anyways, that money should be used to educate people in impoverished nations about the importance of protection and on how to identify the symptoms of sexually transmitted diseases.

Short term we should focus on the prevention of spreading AIDS, and long term we should most assuredly focus on the eradication of the disease.

I hear alot of talk about how we cant beat it because it mutates. This is true. I wouldn't say it mutates more than any other virus, but its dam close. But what is unique about the aids virus is that the underbelly and the injecting part of the virus never mutates..ever. This was discovered a few years back, before it was just assumed that the whole thing mutated. There approach at curing it is devolping antibodys that pick up on this constant, and dont discriminate against the rest of the virus. Thats where ur money is specifically going.
