I'm beginning a series of map based off The Lord of the Rings, using the LotR style of gameplay. I'll also have some battle maps about key battles in LotR and the Silmarillion. I've finished my 1st age, and have currently begun a 2nd Age LotR style. So far, things are going smoothly. Any suggestions, toss em my way. On a sidenote, my maps can usually be won by either way: units or hero opping, and I try to give each force at least 1 unique unit, unlike some maps I hate that just make it pure hero opping or pure units...
Anyways, any suggetions, post em here.
Here's my 1st age. I tried to make it realistic to certain strengths of units and heroes while putting balance. I'll admit, Noldor/Sindar forces will be tough for the first part of the game if Thangorodrim and Angband are smart enough. (Noldor and Sindar are allied, by the way, since they never really fought each other.)
Try looking at a map when you make terrain. Also, try to spend at least enough time to make it look presentable. Honestly, that terrain looks like you took fifteen minutes to make it.
A Decent LotR Map in ProgressI hope you check that out. I spent a good deal of time getting the terrain like that (accuracy and sexiness), so maybe it'll be motivation to try harder on your second age map.
I never had much vision for terrain, and it's my first map. 'course, I know the terrain sucks comparitively, I plan to do better on following maps.
I mean it.
Out of the three LotR maps that Ive made (all with extended terrain) I'd like to point out that nobody really cares about terrain who plays them.
That's because they've probably never seen the cool stuff.
Yeah, but good terrain would still be nice. Or, at least decent ya know.
Oh, I forgot to add something! If you would like to use my terrain for your map, feel free to go ahead and do so! I just ask that you add something like "Terrain by: Felagund" in the briefing and objectives, or something along those lines.
