Serious war = advance in technology.
The people were a coin to pay for the technology we got. For example: would they rush to split the atom so much ? No. So there would be no nuclear bombings at the cost of decades of nuclear power experience.

Or, it may be some deranged dictator who detonates it first. Remember, Germany wasn't too far away from the nuke either.

But the main factor is that many lives would of been saved. Look at the halocaust and the atomic bombings. If that never happend people wouldnt look at jews in a diagonal way and the japaneese would sell more sushi and merge with china.

You forget that many countries were anti-semantic at that time. It was even rampant in North America. Remember the St. Louis? How about the Japanese invasion of China, which started with the invasion of Manchuria in 1931? How far are you going to change history?
I personally believe that if World War II was not fought, something worse would have taken its place. The whole world was going through an economic depression, and the last time that happened, we got World War I.
Some say we wouldn't have developed nuclear technology as fast without World War II. Perhaps. But remember, the fundamentals are there. I believe that if we postponed World War II, we'd probably end up with a war with countries tossing nukes at each other. Or we'd end up with something worse than the Holocaust.
World War II taught us what atrocities we humans are capable of. It is perhaps the reason why the Cold War didn't end up "hot". No one wanted another World War after seeing the things done in World War II. Without it, we would not have the United Nations, but rather, be left with a defunct League of Nations which would have never been able to prevent nuclear war.
For those of you who harbour the illusion that without World War II, we wouldn't have nukes, keep dreaming. That would be the
first thing we'd do with nuclear technology. Without the UN to mediate between countries, without the lessons of World War II to show us how low humanity can fall down to, we'd be living in a world which would have quite a significant increase in background radiation.
