I found out recently, about a new game coming to us in about 2008. The game is one amazing peice of work and only started out with a couple people, some guy found out how to link c++, or something like that.
He ended up making a whole new engine, far better, and futuristic than anygame, on the PC. I have a link to the site dont forget to watch some of the Downloads for it got some pretty amazing footage.
http://www.projectoffset.com/Oh and btw that is a REAL screenshot of what a part of the ingame will look like, i mean WOW. If you read they also looking for very Good people at C++ and that kind of stuff to join their team.
This could be your chance to shine. Thank you
I remember hearing about this before... it looks amazing.
Indeed. That is amazing, but far too much for my 8 year old PC
I hope video cards will be cheaper by 2008 because a game like that is only gona work really well on a Radeon X1900XTX and that video card (currently best in the world) costs around 1000 dollars.
Amazing. Xbox 360 teams much larger don't produce graphics as good. I'd love to play that all day long.
Particularly, this amazed me.

On the left is source art comprised of 1.2 million polygons. On the right is the resulting in game model comprised of just a couple thousand polygons
Does anyone else understand what they are talking about with that "linking" stuff?
By then, i will have a new PC so I look forward to it..unless it somehow sucks..

xbox 360 team is more limited than pc. =X
I SOOOOOOOO Want this game.
its coming out in like 2007... The odd thing is i thought it was a RPG when i first looked at it like few month ago... but its a FPS... amazing... great graphics for sure.
This game just actually might hook me on something that isn't an FPS or racing game But DTBK, this is an FPS...
Does anyone get what they mean by 'chaining' or w/e?
Yeah, it's a fantasy FPS! So what exactly is the technology behind this?
Ah, I just read up on it. It appears that 64-bit has a real, genuine application! So while that enables amazing color depth, normal mapping gets insane detail while reducing polygon count, HDR and specular bloom get awesome lighting effects, and the shading is integrated in with the lighting instead of being seperate (ultimately increasing performance).
Now, while they mentioned something about particles in their website, they really made no mention of physics. If they included an awesome physics engine, this game would be perfect.
*Edit* If that is what the game feels like in game for real, this is going to take over my life!
And ducky, it just means that they chain frames together and the make the past ones slightly transparent -> invisible. I know it's going to take some really insane hardware to run like that though!

No it said 2 or 3 years from now
"Project Offset" (working title) is a first-person shooter set in an epic fantasy world.
Anyway... it sort of looks drawn...
Felagund, you're analyzing graphics too much... just because it has awesome graphics and stuff, and maybe a good physics engine, won't make it a good game. The gameplay is what really matters
But graphics make games seem better. It's more fun to actually know what you're looking at, rather than a low texture box. More details are better.

It reeks of RPG-ness though. It's part FPS, percisely why it might draw me.Oh yeah? If you give me two awesome games of the same level of gameplay, but one has better graphics, I'll take the one with the better graphics in a heartbeat. Besides, the graphics are all we really have to analyze right now.
They did mention something about massive regions, which should make it fun to explore.

PC Fanboy...
Anyway, i don't this game will be that great. Previews always look good but when you actually play the game, your expectations for it drop.

Exactly, the graphics are all we really have to analyze now, so to say it's going to be a great game(Or whatever adjective you said) is a bit early. :\ Of course graphics do factor in the game..

Actually no, I have an xbox 360 and I plan on buying a wii. I can just face the facts.
That's the perfect argument against fanboys!
I don't really understand this argument but are you trying to say an XBOX360 is less limited to what it can do than a PC..? LOL!!
You always could mod your XBox and make it a media center.. but that's just more money
