Is it actually possible to restore this site to its orignal functionality before the hacker's wrath, or we'll be stuck with how it is now?
What did we lose? Some mod topics, a few pinned topics and mineral/post counts?
There have been so many posts after the incident, if we were to restore a backup, we'd lose a lot more than we lost from the attack.
Before the hacker struck SEN, I had about 950 posts. Now I have 1140. So I'd actually like to keep it as is. But then again, I didn't lose everything, so I can understand why so many would want the change back.
Before the haxX0r struck I had 1200 posts. Now I have 200. Now we have a new forum. Now the backup fro that day has been overwritten.
Speaking of posts we had before the attack, Moose, could you reset my post count? I don't want to wait another 340 posts to change my title...
It's not going to happen since they are going to be reset in the next version anyways. Ah well, as long as I can change my member title, went from around 2600ish posts to 6 :0
All the posts are going to be reset when we switch to v5? I thought IP said he'd move them over. Well I don't really care much as long as I don't lose the elite membergroup.
Well I probably would have been an elite by sen v5 came out, I had just 990ish posts then the attack happened and then i was at 670ish. Now I am at 714. I would love it to go to how it was. Not to mention I went from 4,500 minerals to -500 to 2,000!
OMG I LOST 2000 MINERALS !!!!
Seriously, people, they mean almost nothing. All I need them for is to change my nick
I care only about my warn Log, and a bit about my posts because they determine how big my PM box is.
I got 2000 minerals =)
But yeah, it would be useless now...
I still miss my ~250 posts or so, but it's not really a concern to me at all.

Yeah, I remember him saying that as well. And at an earlier point, Yoshi said all members will keep the same member title they had in v4 when we switch to v5. So you'll still be an elite (and supposing they don't reset post counts, I'll be up there, too
).
Post counts will not be reset to 0 when we move to v5. All existing post data will be carried over, and post count will be reassessed based on your total posts, regardless of character length, in all forums that award post count for posting.
Minerals, however, will be reset to 0.
Oh huh. So that would mean that a person with say 100 posts in Maps in Production that never fit the character limit would would then be counted toward the total post count?
I assume that would mean the requirements for "regular" and "elite" would be changed as well. Oh wait, karma will be a new factor in achieving those titles, right?

Yes, most people's post counts will increase.
Also, as you pointed out, member level promotions will be based on some new system, perhaps Karma.Hooray, I'll be bumped up to elite.
If I don't reach "Elite" by then, I'd be bumped up as well (even though it wont only be post count anymore). But in knowing how long its taken so far to get upgraded to v5, I'll probably get there in v4 first.
I can tell you that if posts are recounted and posts in non mineral forums are including.... I'm definitely not letting any sort of promotion system be based on post count alone.
How exactly does the karma system on v5 work? Does it just add up, or do you earn it somehow?
Moose I thought it was the same post counters as before, just with no character limit?

If it's the same as it was last time, people gave you karma if you made a good post, helped them with their map, etc.
There's not decided upon system yet. I'm still pulling for my system...
