Since nobody has officially given a review on a map in a
long, long time, and with a growing popularity of recognizing "premium maps" in SeN, I've decided to revive the forum with a new review.
Map Name: Special Forces - DBZAuthor: ShadowRune
Specifications: Jungle 128x128, 1-6 Players
Now I've played tons of Special Forces and DBZ maps, but this is the first DBZ map I've seen that combines the two
Unlike most other DBZ maps, however, this one has very little story. All you do is collect the seven dragonballs while battling hordes of monsters and major DBZ villians, a typical hack-and-slash RPG. The author could have at least showed some dialogue or story info, as non-DBZ fans will have no idea what to do.
The gameplay was quite unbalanced, however. As the game progressed, many of the monsters gradually grew weaker (except towards the end) and bosses weren't all that powerful. There was a bug with Goku's final form, as obtaining tons of score would allow you to have multiple heroes.
No matter how nice the DBZ logo on the minimap is, I have to admit that it takes up a fairly large amount of room on the map, considering it's only size 128x128. There were quite a few spots of blockiness, and the narrow valleys in the middle caused the computer units created in the middle to stack until lots of unit unplacable errors popped up constantly. Overall, the terrain gets a 5/10.
Overall, this map is fun, wether you are a DBZ fan or a special forces micro god. You should play it when you get the chance.
