If a movie production team one day decided to make starcraft the movie would it be good? Or would it turn into so many other movies based off of games and flop.
I think it would actually work out as something more like a movie off of a book, as it definately has more of a storyline then most games. They'd need some stunning actors for heros though, if they didn't look and sound somewhat similar, the movie wouldn't be as great.
Only if it were animated.
That's why I think Halo the Movie will work, because the story sucks, and then people will compare the movie to the game and say, "wow, the movie has a really good story comparatively!" However, a StarCraft movie would face the same fate as the Star Wars prequels. It'd have such high standards to meet, and it'd probably fail. However, maybe George Lucas was just going senile.
*Edit* StarCraft has some good heroes. While some like Tassadar, Mengsk, and Kerrigan are pretty generic, there are some really good, deep ones like Raynor and Zeratul.
Maybe if they based it on the Korhal Rising events, that would be awesome. The ending would need some work, as it ends with Korhal getting nuked. But zerg and protoss wouldn't be in that. Perhaps it could focus on Duran's experiment on zerg/protoss hybrids. That would be awesome. Of course, a crappy game would be released with the movie as a marketing tool.
i'd love to see a movie about Libertys Crusade or Shadow of the Xel'nega (the books)
that'd be awesome
Liberty's Crusade was just about the original terran campaign (yes, I read all the books
)
Yes.
Cant wait for halo. Thats gonna own.

Right... Because thats
totally relevent.
Hmm if they did make one and it was in real time action that might sound good.
Or they could turn it into a T.V show like robot chicken were they do funny takes on it like what do marines do in there spare time.
It all shows an RTS being played, lmao...It might be good, hell who knows, i'd like it in that crazy 3d animation

Did the star wars prequels fail and did people hate them? I didn't know that I thought the prequels were pretty good.
Didnt they already make Starcraft The Movie? Or was it just another starcraft ghost trailer?
They've never made SC: The Movie. I do remember hearing about a live action version years ago, but that fell through. As far as I know, only the unofficial 3D movie is being made for it.
I actually really likes Starship Troopers (but mainly because of the fascist overtones of the universe the characters lived in). I'm sure with updated graphics and some cool costumes, SC: The Movie would be pretty badass if it were like Starship Troopers.
It would be awesome to have a Starcraft movie, it'd do fine. My standards for movies aren't that high though. I would actually like to see it with real people, not animations. I'm sure we could find a good actor to fit as Jim Raynor, etc.. =\
Well that brings up an interesting question. Who would you see playing each character...
Raynor:
Zeratul:
Kerrigan/Infested Kerrigan:
Duke:
Mengsk:
Duran:
Stukov:
Fenix:
DuGalle:
I know I missed some, but I'm in a hurry.
I'd rather see it animated, but if they used actors, I'd say it would probably be a bunch of unknowns.

You couldn't be more wrong. The Halo storyline is absurdly good. It is one of the richest game Universes ever created. I have not read the books. There is so much one takes from simple off-hand statements that characters make in the game.

I'm sorry? What? Define "deep" and "generic." You throw those terms around like you're using them correctly. It's not like Raynor or Zeratul's characters haven't been done before either. Raynor is like the Han Solo of StarCraft. Zeratul is the most vacuous character in the game. He likes Aiur. He does 100 damage. End of story. What does it take for a character to be deep? Must they face some moral dilemma? Tassadar does, and then after that he follows his chosen path without divergence. Mengsk -is- a straightforward power hungry villain, but would you really want your villain questioning his actions? That doesn't make for a very good story. Kerrigan is practically going schizo as her mind tries to reconcile her mutation into evil against her will. Sounds deep to me. Think before you speak, boy.
Tassadar: Destroy humanity or let the Zerg run rampant?
Mengsk: I want power.
Kerrigan: I'm evil. But I don't want to be </emo>
Raynor: I hate injustice.
Zeratul: I do 100 damage.
lol, maybe it would have the "Sarah and duke have sex" in the movie
well it wouldn't be that great of a movie I dont think.. whats gonna happen? the terrans are the main people, fighting against the zerg, and try to kill the cerebrate witht he protoss as an alliance??
The storyline of the starcraft saga is good but the only problem is that much of the storyline revovles around gameplay, they're going to have to do more than fitting the storyline into movie format, they're going to have to change the campaigns and missions so that we watch it happen rather than do it.
This means that they're going to have to develop different war and action scenes not just a simultaneous struggle to win and winning in the end, its going to complicate things.

Actually, since they campaigns happen in order they'd just have to develop war scenes. Everybody wins twice, but Kerrigan wins in the end.
It would be great, would make ppl buy it
A sc Movie would probably be cool buy ya they would have to change the storyline around. Unless they did like 3 movies one on each race
