Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> Player 12 triggers on Macs
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Annatar.GoA on 2006-09-05 at 16:21:43
When I load the Player 12 triggers into my map nothing happens. There isn't even a error message. There are no new options when I go to make a new trigger either. I want the Player 12 triggers to do the usual kill all units when a player leaves. I have a mac. Any ideas?

triggers owned by P12 do not work on any computer system, windows, mac or otherwise.

If you want to kill all units when someone leaves then:

Players:Any valid player(has a start location, and is not 'unused' and is in forces list)
Conditions:Always
Actions:Kill/remove all any unit owned by player 12 at anywhere

I can't get the Player 12 or "_" or whatever to show up in the trigger editor menu when I'm making the action "Kill all any unit for Player 12 at 'Anywhere'"

I can't select "Player 12" even after I loaded the triggers into my map.

You need either starforge or SCMDraft, possibly scxe but i dont know since i dont use it.

since your on a Mac (i assume) you should use emeraldedit, i dont know if that can do it though..

Does this tutorial help?

I have been using StarFire Edit and also tried using Emerald but neither help. I just can't select Player 12 in the menu. Thanks for the help though.

Does anyone have a player 12 trigger that kills units when someone leaves that I could just load into my map?

Aren't the P12 triggers supposed to be for scx and scx only on Pc's? I mean, why would it be for scmdraft2 when it can already use Neutrual (P12) as a player?

You're not making any sense. I think it's obvious that Macs must use .scm and .scx extensions, since on battle.net it doesn't matter who has what type of computer and you can dl a map from a mac user/pc user without a problem. Also, there is no SCMD2 for Macs yet. The P12 and other triggers are not for SCMD2, they are for other editors which cannot create those triggers.

The trigger you imported doesn't let you to select Player 12. It's just a premade trigger that has all the possible conditions and actions with Player 12 selected as the player.

What you have to do is copy the trigger and remove all the conditions/actions that you aren't using.
For the one(s) that you are using, in this case the "Kill units at location" action, leave it.
It has Player 12 as the player, which is what you want. (It shows up as "_" in the trigger editor)
You can select the unit type and location, but don't try to modify the player.

Ok. When I import the player 12 triggers into a blank map that doesn't have any prior triggers I still don't see anything. It doesn't import the triggers. This must be some weird thing with mac star edit.

you can use player 12 (bring) in condition also.

you also can use:
Conditions: Bring( Player12, any unit)
this will work

As the resident Mac map making guy, I can tell you that you'll never see Player 12 on the dropdown menu when doing triggers. But that doesn't mean you can't use P12 triggers.

Basically download the P12 trigs, load them in your map, and then change the units and location and all that stuff for each trigger but never click on the little space where the player should be. It wont show a player (i.e. Player 12), but it is in fact Player 12. I can post a screenshot if you still have no idea what I'm talking about.

I'm pretty sure that .trg files created on a PC are not compatible with mac staredit, and vice versa because of endian issues. But this is based on testing I did a long time ago and I might not be remembering correctly. Can anyone confirm or deny this?

Apparently DevliN has used the P12 triggers before, and he's on a mac.

Yeah, I use P12 triggers and I'm on a Mac. I don't know why it doesn't work for Annatar, though.

Here's a screenshot fo what the P12 tiggers look like on my Mac:user posted image
