Alright, if we get enough suggestions, I'll make a poll of this. For any video game series with at least three connected titles, tell me what you believe is the one with the best story. Therefore, a game series like Star Wars Dark Forces would work because they use many of the same characters and the stories are connected in some reasonable fashion. However, a series like Final Fantasy would not be applicable here because the stories are disconnected.
Tales of Symphonia, Phantasia, Legendia.
Zelda. Loosely connected. MM=after OoT And Twilight Princess is supposed to be the same link from both of those games.
The Link in twilight princess is a farmer...
Oh yah. Wait, the TP takes place like 60 years after OoT. Still got that connection.
The Doodan campaigns...
Oh wait, this is game stories. Scratch Zelda then.
KH FTW rofl
Splintercell serries?
Just giving an idea... there doesnt seem to be many trilogy games that share storylines that are good
Doom and Quake. They both follow their storylines but Doom3 is a remake of the original Doom.
FFVII with KH, and KH2. Also with the movies, and the books, as in series
And every campaign in the world.
HAH!
Well... All of the LOTR games use a misconstrued chop-out-everything-thats-not-absolutely-important version of a good story, so...
How can you guys forget about starcrafts storyline!?!?!
Legend of zeldas quite good and pikmin and of course the mario series.
Half-Life series!
Half Life 1 -> Half Life 2 -> HL2: Episode 1 (It's a standalone game.
)
Plus all the HL1 expansions, which gives a much better story.
And I'm tossing in the Metal Gear series.
Kirby series for teh win!!11011

Yeah, I wasn't sure if those would be considered "connected", since Gordon Freeman doesn't really take part in them...
Before Crisis - Final Fantasy 7
Crisis Core - Final Fantasy 7
Final Fantasy 7 - Final Fantasy 7
Advent Children - Final Fantasy 7
Dirge of Cerberus - Final Fantasy 7
Look like FF7 is actually usable.
Also The Star Ocean series.
How about the Megaman, Megaman X, and Megaman Zero series?
Ah, the good ol' days of advanced microing with the Megabuster/X Buster/Beamsabre....

You see Freeman in Opposing Force right before he jumps into a portal. And you see Barney in HL1, and then play as him in Blue Shift. So those three are enough to connect them.
All the Half Life expansions are pretty clearly connected. I'd rather not include Final Fantasy at all. I mean, how can you honestly include a cellphone game? Beyond that, show me how Advent Children is a game. I guess we still have to include Final Fantasy VII though.
Here are the current nominees:
The Legend of Zelda
Metal Gear
Star Wars Dark Forces (Dark Forces, Jedi Knight, Jedi Outcast, etc.)
Megaman
Half Life
Tales (of Symphonia, of Phantasia, of Legendia, etc.)
Spintercell
The Elder Scrolls
Forgotten Realms (Baldur's Gate, Icewind Dale, Neverwinter Nights, etc.)
Final Fantasy VII (FFVII, Dirge of Cerberus, Crisis Core, etc.)
Any others that you want to add? I'm not putting in Gunstar Heroes because that's not part of a lengthy series.
Does elderscrolls really count as connecting? you take place on contenents in a random year each time... Im not sure if they all connect...
Star Ocean(origional for NES)
Star Ocean : The Second Story
Star Ocean : Till the end of Time
Trust me even if you cant get much feedback on these games they're worth adding, and they're really good connections. Basically its all in the same universe just different time peroid.
Btw Star Wars could include Kotor and kotor II
