Do you think you are ignorant? As in whats going around the world and et cetera. Do you ever watch the news and attempt to understand it?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by JaFF on 2006-09-16 at 05:21:53
I watch the news, but if there is really important news, I will hear about them from people if they are really interesting. Also, I use the internet.

Some people just assume Korea as in North Korea, and not knowing theres a South one, can you people compare between the countries?

In other words, there will allways be morons.

I'm ignorant about a lot of things I probably shouldn't be. I try to map out my knowledge on a need-to-know basis, which of course means that I don't know I need a lot of it until after I already know it or not. I do that partly because I wish to focus more on actually producing things than on whether I should produce them.

Bad habit I know. That policy at least is starting to change with me lately, though. I'm now more inclined to make things that work instead of focusing on simply whether I can make them or not. Notice I've produced a lot less lately as a result, though.

There are some things I consider myself very good at and knowledgable about. But we humans can only devote so much time to our interests within our lifetime, so as a result, there are many, many shortcomings in our knowledge. But that's normal. Personally, I don't possess a very good understanding of religion, or many cultures, higher concept math, computers, pop culture (although I'm not trying very hard on that one), machinery, and the list goes on. I really just focus on learning about what's important to me, or what I'm simply curious about.

I don't think there's a single person on the planet whose knowledge is above average on more than just a handful of subjects. I guess its all about how you feel. I do feel dumb, sometimes.

Sometimes, when somethings wrong/gay.

Hmm..its like this is on the merge of Lite Discussion and Misc.

Bah who cares.

My analogy is "Don't talk like you know if you don't know".
Although I lack knowledge to many subjects, I don't just assume that if one single phenomena or event occurs, everything goes as it did in that event. I hate these kind of prejudice, and assuming considering it as a knowledge. And that of course counts as ignorance.

Of course i am silly lithium. Everyone i've ever met knew that in about three days.

How ironic that you don't know the meaning of the word analogy, yet you use it anyway (thus claiming that you do). I believe the word you're looking for is "motto". Not to insult your intelligence, it's just funny =) I'm sure it was an accident.

Personally, I'm pretty ignorant of a lot of things going on in the world. Partly because the information just isn't there, partly because I don't care. I try to stay informed on things that are important to me, like what my government is doing, and plans to do. But I'm not going to learn the entire history of the Middle East unless I have to make decisions based on it. Even then, I wouldn't trust a news station or some schmuck to tell it to me. Bias is a scary thing when you're learning =(

If we're going by the definitions provided, everyone is ignorant to some degree in terms of what's going on in the world.

That was sarcasm. I was asking what ignorance was, and that would make me ignorant. *sigh*

I'm going to assume (which is what ignorant people tend to do, ironically) that by ignorant, you mean one of the following:

1. Knowing very little of current affairs yet eagerly expressing opinions on said affairs.
2. Refusing to look at both sides of an argument with a reasonable degree of objectivity.

In that case then I'm sure there are cases where I have been ignorant. When I become aware of my own ignorance though, I do try to learn more about what it is I've been ignorant about.

Here is a list of common topics where ignorance is often expressed:
1. Hitler
2. Iraq
3. Map Un/protection
4. Terrorism
5. Religion

Ignorancy is based almost entirely on another person's opinion of you, even if he is right its just another persons opinion.

Most political leaders like my own country's political leader ( South Korea ) is retarded and think they are making a super wise decision, and that fits Doodan's description of the people who are ignorant.
I have been ignorant many many times, but I can say I am not completely retarded.

I know enough to consider myslef not-ignorant. At least in what matters. I know how the world works for the most part... There are tons of things I don't know, but generally those things don't matter to me, and I don't need to know them...
