I read an article talking about Natural Talent and wondered if you guys agree that people with Natural Talent don't have to work as hard as smaller/thinner people. Alot of Muscles and Height comes from Genes. It's a sick feeling when you to your side and see some one 6ft 6inches not even breaking a sweat when you are dead tired and working as hard as you can. The large college state football teams don't work as hard as smaller colleges because they know they already have the best players and want them to stay healhty. Smaller schools work harder, hit harder, and and know they have improvement that needs to be done.

I believe that most people are inherently better at certain things than most others, and that makes them better at their specific interests than most people. I don't think that people who are naturally strong are better off in the grander scheme of things. Being physically adept isn't better than being artistic or intelligent or good with people, etc.

I do have to agree with the genes part. Being "Genetically Enabled" to have a certain amount of muscle and the Genes set the limits. Like my trainer explained to me, (with his funny texas accent): "Those people on those Muscle shows and 'Strongest Man' shows are genetic freaks. They are ABLE to have those muscles because its in their genes. You can put two different people on the same training method, one will end up with more then the other. This is natural because it is different for everyone."

My one and only true talent is writing, and im happy to say that im very pleased with what i write. I do work to improve, though.

It is true that slow twitch muscles cannot be created, and you generally have the ammount you are born with, fast twitch muscles you can develop later. Although nothing should really be blamed on the muscles, the capacity of how well you perform is all in your head.

Albert Einstein wasn't the best student until one point, when inspiration struck. Also, he worked very hard to develop the Relativity Theory. You can be the most talented person in the world, but you must work to improve, or else your talent will be wasted. [/bad grammar]
About less talented working harder:

My buddy has natural talent
Never took a guitar lesson in his life, he taught himself
and hes amazing
played a solo on stage while doing the moon walk and playing behind his head
he could use some cleaning up, which is what lessons would do
but hes pretty much a god and thats all natural talent

Yes I agree that the people with natrual Talent(such as myself) are more natural athletes, I can almost guarntee that I sit around and do nothing almost everyday(sc, school, other sitting down things) and in a matter of hours of say streching for a 100 M run and abit of practicing I'll be in perfect shape and there's probably a 70% chance I'll even win, I know I'm sounding like a braggart but I'm pretty confident that I'm right about this.

There are no real "natural talents". Unless you try hard, you will get nowhere off even if you are good at something. Majority of successful people weren't born with such natural talents

I believe that a person can be overall talented, but I do not believe that this usually divides itself up in subjects as related as history/math, etc. I do believe in artistic, musical and physical talents, though.

Alrite.. Here is how I look at it. Genetics MAY play some role on how a person may turn out to be. But most of the time, it is the culture that envelops them that shapes us the most. Most Asians are smart at school stuff. Why? because they are grown up in a different household. And trust me. Asians don't have extra brains to carry around everyday.

About my natural talent. I am good at all calculations and writing. But how natural is it ? When I was really young (didn't even go to school), I spent a lot of time with my grandfather, and he taught me math and writing. When I went to the firsrst grade, I could add hundreds (I mean like 185+753), and could write a bit. I know I was on a primitive level, but in such a young age the brain soaks up information very good. I think that was what helped me so much.
I suck at art, for example. And now I wander what would I be like if he taught me art and writing. Would I suck at math ?...

There has to be some sort of natural talent... I see people on my Cross Country team, might be a little more in shape than me, but not so much more, yet they can run so much better than me, and I've had more practice than them

how do you view height as talent?! Height has nothing to do with talent. You could be 9 ft and be absolutely horrible with basketball.

talent is to a person like steroids are to muscles. for those of you who don't know, steroids WILL NOT make muscles grow, the muscles have to grow, but the roids will make the muscle grow more everytime it grows(kinda like an added bonus).
so, if two people trained(for w/e the talent is related to) equally hard year round, the more talented person would have an advantage, due to his talent, he will be better. however, if an untalented person trained, yet the talented one didn't, the latter would only just be as good as an untalented person who never trained. this is due to him never accessing his talent, he never trained and improved, therefore his talent never had anything to improve.
