The trend going around in this day and age is that "common sense is anything but". Whether you're new here at SEN or just haven't posted in Map Showcase much, make sure to use this handy dandy Showcase Threads for Dummies cheat sheet before you post.
Checklist (in order of importance)
A) Are you in the right forum?
QUOTE
Nothing is worse than posting in the wrong forum. If you need
help,
ideas, or
generic time to waste, there are forums dedicated to those purposes. Simple as that.
B) Is your map appropriate for this forum?
-[1] Is this a legitimate map?
QUOTE
Maps showcased in the forum follow the same guidelines as maps pending approval in the
Download Database.
- No rigged maps
- No fake maps or files (maps that resemble others but in an extremely low quality fashion).
Stolen maps will not be tolerated and will result in dire actions up to and including being banned permanently from Staredit.net.
- No insulting maps (maps solely dedicated to insulting people or clans).
- No clan recruitment maps (maps solely dedicated to advertising clans or recruiting people).
- No disfunctional/crashing maps (maps that are non functional, or its only purpose is to crash peoples games).
- No maps depicting nudity.
-[2] Did you put effort into the map?
QUOTE
The moment you create a topic here, your reputation will be at stake. Many members will base their view of your overall 1337ness solely on the quality of the maps you make. If you got bored one day and decided to make a map called "Johnny is cool" with a single Marine named "Johnny is cool", feel free to show it off on Battle.net; not here.
-[3] Is your map completed enough to be played?
QUOTE
There is a
dedicated forum made specifically for the purpose of showing off maps that are still in development, and after completion of the map you can close your old Production thread and open up a new one here.
Beta or beyond are the most appropriate versions, and Alpha can be accepted if at least the core functionalities of the map have been completed.
C) How well will you make your topic?
QUOTE
If you spent weeks or even months on a map, you do NOT want to contribute only 2 minutes advertising for it. A
template is readily available, but make sure that you spend time filling it with information, customizing it for your own needs, organizing the format, and overall make people want to play the map. Just because Starcraft only requires an 8-bit display does not mean its players have no sense of visual aesthetics.
