The trend going around in this day and age is that "common sense is anything but". Whether you're new here at SEN or just haven't posted in Map Showcase much, make sure to use this handy dandy Showcase Threads for Dummies cheat sheet before you post.

Checklist (in order of importance)

A) Are you in the right forum?
QUOTE
Nothing is worse than posting in the wrong forum. If you need help, ideas, or generic time to waste, there are forums dedicated to those purposes. Simple as that.

B) Is your map appropriate for this forum?
-[1] Is this a legitimate map?
QUOTE
Maps showcased in the forum follow the same guidelines as maps pending approval in the Download Database.

- No rigged maps
- No fake maps or files (maps that resemble others but in an extremely low quality fashion). Stolen maps will not be tolerated and will result in dire actions up to and including being banned permanently from Staredit.net.
- No insulting maps (maps solely dedicated to insulting people or clans).
- No clan recruitment maps (maps solely dedicated to advertising clans or recruiting people).
- No disfunctional/crashing maps (maps that are non functional, or its only purpose is to crash peoples games).
- No maps depicting nudity.
-[2] Did you put effort into the map?
QUOTE
The moment you create a topic here, your reputation will be at stake. Many members will base their view of your overall 1337ness solely on the quality of the maps you make. If you got bored one day and decided to make a map called "Johnny is cool" with a single Marine named "Johnny is cool", feel free to show it off on Battle.net; not here.
-[3] Is your map completed enough to be played?
QUOTE
There is a dedicated forum made specifically for the purpose of showing off maps that are still in development, and after completion of the map you can close your old Production thread and open up a new one here. Beta or beyond are the most appropriate versions, and Alpha can be accepted if at least the core functionalities of the map have been completed.

C) How well will you make your topic?
QUOTE
If you spent weeks or even months on a map, you do NOT want to contribute only 2 minutes advertising for it. A template is readily available, but make sure that you spend time filling it with information, customizing it for your own needs, organizing the format, and overall make people want to play the map. Just because Starcraft only requires an 8-bit display does not mean its players have no sense of visual aesthetics.

Pssh you got that from me.

QUOTE(mapinproductionfaq)
Make sure that when your postin that its not out of the category meaning it isnt about 100% of the terrain in the map or is something out of the text like your hosting a contest in the maps in production or seeking help. There are other threads for those.

Terrain Offers a place were you can post up a good terrain that you think was made cool but also read the rules and guidelines in that thread.

Ideas Need a nice idea or want to offer some of your own? Here is a nice section right there.

No fair you automaticallly get your faq in your page disgust.gif

Your topic was one of the things that urged me to create a FAQ, the other one being someone's posting of an illegal map hintB)[1]hint in the forum.

People also need to be reminded to finish their maps before putting them in this forum.

Of course it is fair that I get to sticky my page in a forum I moderate. wink.gif

Ahahaha, this was very helpful. Now, folks will be a little more under control. Thing is, people don't seem to read FAQs nowadays, and either rather credit topics, or go on without having a clue that they're doing it wrong.

Good to know their are quality and other guidelines for this forum. If I had a map that I am still in the process of revising/adding features and possibly addressing a few balancing issues...should I probably hold off making a showcase thread until I believe I am finally and absolutely done making changes? Just wondering for advice from a moderator on this wink.gif.
