ClassMasters RPG

ClassMasters RPG is a story of a group called the Class Masters, great heroes set out to master all skills and learn as much about different styles of combat. It is based in medivil times, but does include magic.

Progress

+ means partly done
++ means done

Unit Names +
monsters and their triggers +
towns +
leveling +
shields weapons ++
item making
skills + (working on it now)
other +
-Ideas
I have almost all the ideas. All I really need is cool names for the monsters.
-Terrain
Terrain is like 10% done. I suck at doing terrain, and i don't really like doing it.

-Unit placement
Same as terrain

-Triggers
about 20 to 40%. Triggers are easiest for me, because having just learned how to do most of them right, I feel more accomplished when I do them, and it isn't really that boring.

-Add Your Own
I am going to have ownable homes, where a player can buy furniture and keep his weapons and items where nobody else can take them.

Specifications

-Players
players 1 to 4 are human, 5 is neutral (owns weapons and certain beacons and such) 6 is the enemy enemy, 7 is score keeper, and 8 controls the towns

-Map tileset
Ice

-Map size
256x256

-Add your own
At first this used to be a jungle rpg on jnugle title set and 196x196 size, with a whole different idea. then i decided it 3was too small so i made the same map on a 256x256 size. then i realized that idea was lame so i redid the whole map but on the same file. Then i messed up strings somehow and started over and now it is much much better.

Storyline / Introduction

The players are not here to help save the town or anything like that. The players play the role of groups of a guild who will try to master many different fighting styles. There will be quests, but they are a minor part. Mostly there will be fighting, but you can gather materials from the wilderness and craft your own weapons to use in combat.

Features

four
-Player Interface
a large skill tree consisting of 4 branches, holdable weapons and shields, ownable houses, and weapon/shield making menu

-What's new in your map that others have not done before?
This has all probably been done, I just don't know about it but:
4 separate types of skills that everyone can use.
Ownable homes
Gathering materials
Making weapons
weapons and shields system where weapons and shields are units following you around.
I am also thinking of Hireable computer Controlled Party members, but i haven't gotten there yet

Details

-Characters
the 4 ClassMasters(Unit Fenix), King Hanic

-Weapons
The weapons were supposed to be secret from you until you found/made them, but if you insist:
Poison Tipped Spear
Longsword
Crossbow
Battle Axe
Silver Mace
Colossus Battle Axe
Golden Mace

-Items
Theres only three shields, but weapons are cooler so I made more of those
Iron Guard
Fleshy Ward
Guilded Aegis

-Spells
There will be 4 dropship systems, and only one of them will have a dropship.
each system will have Skill 1 2 3 and 4, so there are a total of 16 Skills.
The Martial Arts skills will be held in a shuttle.
The Sorcery skills will be in a dropship.
The Nature skills will be in an overlord.
The Weapon skills will be in a hero overlord.

Martial Arts: martial art skills have the lowest mana cost, but require that you do not use a weapon or a shield while casting them.
1. Double Team: the ClassMaster moves so quickly, that it seems to disapear, and then the next thing you know, the monster is attacking a fake Classmaster.
2. Jump Kick: The ClassMaster will jump in the air, out of reach of the enemies, and land a powerful kick before returning to the ground.
3. Backflip Attack: the enemy does a backflip out of a group of enemies, attacking them while in the air, and then lands safely out of the way. Perfect to use while surrounded
4. Roundhouse Kick: This is possibly one of the strongest skills. The ClassMaster Jumps up in the air, and does a great roundhouse kick, killing or greatly damaging all units near him. (I havent set this skill up yet, but it will look really cool)

Sorcery: sorcery skills are strong, but cost mucho mana. you can hold any shield while using them, but no Crossbows or either of the Battle Axes.
1. Fire Ball: the simplest of the sorcery skills, launches a quick fire bolt to hit one enemy.
2. Hallucination: confuses your enemies into attacking fake units.
3. Weaken: This skill is powerful, greatly reducing the life of all enemies by a percentage. Downside is, it has a small range.
4. This skill summons a great wall of fire, that damages all enemies who try to pass through it. (i will need help with this one, anyone know of a way to make coaked attacking firebats without using an arbitrer?)

Nature: nature skills require you not to use a shield, but many of them are not only offensive but defensive.
1. Defense Cloud: a weak skill, that makes a temporary cloud that defends all nearby units from range attack(including your weapon's). The pro is that it costs little mana, and goes great with the 4rth nature skill.
2. Earthly Spikes: summons spikes from the earth to strike your enemies
3. Summon Spirit: Summons a great spirit of nature to fight by your side. High mana cost, and can only have 1 at a time.
4. Call of the wild: This skill summons many powerful creatures of nature to strike all nearby enemies for a couple seconds. This skill(Zerglings) goes great with Defensive Cloud (Dark Swarm)

4. Weapon skills: These skills not only allow any weapon or shield, but some require it.
1. Critical Strike: Lands one powerful attack. requires weapon
2. Improved blocking: Temporarily maximizes the blocking power of your shield. obviously requires a shield
3.Smite: Damages all nearby enemies by a percentage fo their health, as well as stuns em for a short time. requires shield
4. Zeal: Attack your enemies many many times in a short time. requires weapon
-Add your own
thats pretty much it

This seems like an open RPG. But better than the average ones, hope you can make it without switching and remaking your map.

Owning houses? That concept seems to have alot of potential. However, in order to take advatange of this potential, you're going to have to expand on this alot, making housing a key point in the game, such as houses replacing inns altogether, furnishing, and whatever else you can think of in order to have houses to be a centerpiece in the game. If you can't do that, then don't implement the idea of housing, because it'll be too obscure.

Fairly decent spells, although you may want to vary up the effects a bit more, because pretty much all of them seem like direct damaging attacks, which would simply mean the strongest spell will make all others obsolete. Make sure that each spell has its own individual qualities that would make them unique and useful in various scenarios.

A major problem with open RPGs is that it can leave the player to feel very unaccomplished, due to the lack of a plotline. Thus, I recommend you to at least set a decent plotline that could be followed and completed which would result in a victory, rather than leaving it completely open.

Looks pretty good. Good luck with it.

Exactly how much fighting will there be? Like will this be fighting to train or fighting people and going places for objectives.

okay first of all I think Medievil times had spells in it....so that would be the best place to have spells and have it looking real...second of all owning houses? This is starcraft...stick to what the game does best...I think owning houses would have a huge waste of space and time...and furniture? Sounding a bit like ToonTown and the Sims...again...make this Starcraft man...
