I've been working on the dldb on my computer in the last week or so. I've come to the conclusion I will just "make it work" and worry about the neat things you will be able to do later... so basically, I'm thinking of launching with bare essentials of the forums, registration, and dldb and work from there.
What I need you all to do, at this point, is to make sure the email address you registered with SEN is still valid and kept up to date. Invision handles it's passwords in a weird way so you might just need to reset your password upon converting to v5 if you use special characters.

Cool
Does SENv5 store pws as text or as hashes?

Hashes, of course...

Very cool. Does this mean we have an actual ETA for SENv5 now or should we just assume it will be in the near future?

It means, I hope I have enough time in the next 2-4 weeks to move us over in an orderly fashion.

Oh man, it's going to take a bit to get used to the new layout. I hope Moose's cat won't be in my fridge on v5, seriously, I need that half pound of sausage

May we switch our e-mail address beforehand? Also, when you launch v5, will you reset the accounts already there?

I'm assuming he intends to copy that data over. So yeah, you'd better change stuff now.

Will the staff please make a news post saying to keep everything that won't make the transition?

You should make v5 as fancy as possible before we shift there.
If all you get is functionality, that we have here and v5 will take a little getting used to skin-wise.

Get the whole anacron-style system working.

Woot.. so when are we goign to be able to use Sen V5? how much is it really different from the core system of this site? Can we do more stuff or are we just moving stuff from this site to the other?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Pie_Sniper on 2006-09-26 at 21:05:46
You can already use it, but right now it's just testing and is in development.

Co_ol.
I think moving now may be a little premature though - Profiles are offline, there seem to be lots of SQL errors all over the place, and it seems like many of the great changes planned for v5 like tutorial system or DLDB changes or karma haven't even been finalised properly yet.
I fully support the enthusiasm and the will to code everything in a fury, but if it were me, I wouldn't be making promises so quickly. But yeah, prepare the way! Gogogo!

Yes; that's just my point.
As everything has been thrown in the "wait for v5" bin, v5 should be polished and perfect before being utilized. It's not like there's anything fundamentally wrong with v4.
