Well if you want my opinion, I basically have little knowledge about this kinda stuff, but I did see grade 9s in my school (when I was in Grade 7) getting girl/boy friends and stuff.
I'd say people ages 16+ are mature enough to date, as it's the true starting point of escalating maturity.
There is no age; you are fit to have a significant other in any capacity when you can distinguish between love and lust. It's a maturity thing; and for more and more children these days the maturity leap happens later and later.
You can never be too young. I had my first girlfriend when I was 5 (her name was Jill and my real name is Jack, lol)! But there are things you simply can't do or understand until you reach certain milestones, so keep that in mind. If you have a good idea about what you want in someone, then obviously certain agegroups won't deliver that.

lol but I heard from other people that getting a girlfriend ruins your education or something. I heard you had a long history of those things Doodan lol, (I think you're known for that
)
I had my first girlfriend in 7th grade. But it was like a naive middle school thing.
My first "serious" relationship was in 11th grade. You can guess what "serious" means.
Basically its all a maturity thing. If the couple only talks during school, its not a real relationship. If they actually go on serious dates, then its real. For me that was 16-17. So that's what I voted.
I voted 12-13 but i personally feel that if you have feelings for someone, then express them, dont let age be a controling factor in the matter. I also hate when people say "Your (insert age from 13-17 or so here) your not feeling love, you dont know what love it." Its statements like that that I find to be the immature stupidity that the person saying it assumes is true for everyone of that age group. As said above certain age groups wont get to certain points, you wont see two 10 year olds making out, or atleast i hope not. But i believe, disagreeing with DTBK, that the distinction between love and lust is alot easier then most people make it out to be. My first girlfriend was not overly physicaly attractive, infact she was just a good friend of mind i thought to ask out. This was grade 5 here. People dont give the teenage heart enough credit.
I also read an aticle in the times, titled "The Secret Love Lives Of Teenage Boys". Inside it showed that guys are not "only after one thing" and that most are just as or more romanticly concerned with their relationships then their female partners. One boy said "I wasnt ready, but she was my girlfriend, if she wanted sex then that was what id do to make her happy." I really loved that article, because it rang true for me and a good 85% of my friends.

I vote the 15-16'th years of life!

Is it true that DTBK is too smart to have a girlfriend?
I say the best time is 16+, because then the teens have at least began maturity. Although Leon is right as well. If the 2 people have fealings for each other outside their school/work it's a relationship.
15-16, Pretty much once you enter high school, i think it's stupid that people in my school (I'm in 8th grade) are already getting girlfriends and boy friends, i'd rather wait a year or 2.
Why is it stupid in 8th grade? You're like at the top of the classes in Middle School (or at least 8th grade was the final year at my Middle School), and to be blunt that's when you really start to notice girls more because they're maturing more as well.
Then again I'm probably just saying this because I was a stupid person who had a girlfriend in 8th grade.
I'd say 14-15, but i got my first when i was 13...(aka four months ago) lol
I say it doesnt matter about any age but I voted 9 years plus. Age pretty much doesnt matter as long as it isnt those dumb dates were girls B*tch about being raped by her boyfriend/girlfriend and they knew that was gona happen and then abortion and all that garbage.
God I don't even to how to respond to that last part. I don't think I've ever even met a girl like that. Wow... just wow...
I have had friends, though, who were 18 and dated 16 and 17 year olds where something similar would happen. Once the relationship got more "serious" and they would have sex, the underage girlfriend would tell parental figures that she had sex with her boyfriend and she didn't really want to. Those friends went to jail for a small while until their judges threw out the cases. I hate chicks like that.

Where do you go to school? I look around everywhere and I see boys and often girls too deeming sex to be the all-important factor of a relationship. It is entirely up to you and the person you're going out with whether you'll have a good experience or not, but all experience is experience so I think that people should go for a gf/bf at the time when they feel they're ready.
Basically I'm not too bothered about the age issue. Maybe people should start early so that they stabilise relatively early, or start late when they're more mentally mature.

I live in the scum of northern NJ. Its suburban all over and icky too.
Seriously, Northern NJ and all its 1337-ness. Anyway, the only people i see deeming sex to be that important are:
The stoners.
At a party, the drugs, the beer, and the sex are all that matters.
The whores.
Self explanitory.
79% Of the Jocks
Ok i was being nice. Almost all of them. But its their nature because they switch girlfriends every few months and its hard to make them think theyll be around long with a record like that. And they wont be.
Those 3 catagorys are maybe 40% of my school. A 40% that does drugs and will never amount to anything in their lives. The rest of us will live on to important lives and not have a baby to support while doing it.

Sex is important in a relationship? It's like alcohol for a 13 year old - you want to try because you think it will make you look more mature, but it won't.
The reason why pregnant teenagers are common in America.
But if you don't have a girlfriend until you're high school junior... It maybe a little late because you'll never be able to get a girlfriend to go to prom
Another note id like to make.
Alot of people choose a gf/bf for someone that: (And they mostly shouldnt)
Gives them a shy smile in the hallway
Or they think is cute
Or someone they assume to be perfect
A total stranger
A very popular person
They dont choose one by: (And sometimes should)
Someone they know - Too afraid of runing a friendship
My analasis: If your good enough of friends that you are worried about that, and thats what stopping you, then youve already taken care of it. Good friends always make up.
Someone whos too close to be noticed - self explanitory
My analasis: You all have that friend, one friend of the opposite gender that is so close you love them like a brother/sister and never think anything will come of it. That friend could be waiting for their moment to ask you out, so id be prepared.
Keep an eye on your friends, dont immediately dismiss them for a romantic relationship, i went to the 8th grade dance with my best friend, and it didnt mean anything at the time but were considering something romantic now. Its all about what you choose to do.

I think it's more likely that people want to try it because they are discovering their sexuality and want to experience an orgasm caused by another person...
I don't think there's much of a maturity issue, unless some sort of peer-pressure is being exerted on a person to have sex young.
Recent studies say that if your born into a family thats like full of boys theres a certain chance you can become gay. It wasnt me it was on teh newsz.
But whatever on king of the hill Bobby has a girlfriend whos Kauns daughter and he is only 13 years.

Or two or three or four.

Well around here, I'd say those groups compose more like 90% of the student body.
Well 90% of males and 65% of females.Girls and boys generally become curious about each other at very early ages (the stories about the neighbor boy playing "doctor" with the daughter sorta thing). But girlfriends and boyfriends dont really happen until the girl's and boy's maturity grows. I remember having a girlfriend in grade four, so i guess i was about 11 then. Nothing serious happened, but we were still dating
