Basically I am taking a concept I came up with a few years ago, put it into a RPG, and simplifying it so people can understand what they are doing. I had started this a while ago, but I had to delete all the missions because I wanted to put in cutscenes and change storyline.
I am not trying to make it too hard, so even if you lose your men you can get them back. Minerals won't really be currency, they're like supplies. You can only get another unit if supplies are available, if you lose a unit, those supplies become available.



[center]- Concept -[/center]


The concept is that you can start with three base units:
(B)asic Material [Marine]
(M)utant Material [Zergling]
(T)echnology Material [Zealot]

Those are considered "C01" fusions. You can mix and match them to make different units, here is the combinations finished so far:
(BB) [Hero Marine]
(BM) [Hydralisk]
(BT) [Marine]
(MM) [Hero Zergling]
(MT) [Dragoon]
(TT) [Hero Zealot]
Those are considered "C02". Being that they come from two units, they will be generally stronger. This will go on up untill "C03" or "C04". Of course there will be two Secret materials, alone they will be considered "C05" and fusing them with something else will end up with "C06" or if you fuse them together you get "C0X". You see the pattern.

[center]Under Developement[/center]
An extremist organization is planning to take revenge and reduce one of the most powerful military forces on the planet. They take a strategical deployment and attack on the military's main research facility, the Amphioxus Resarch Facility. The Organization has learned that the Amphioxus has developped a effective, yet affordable, way to create mass armies of numbers or power. The Organization have managed to reverse-engineer this creation, but unable to re-create the defensive and offensive qualities these weapons hold.

A few months after the announcement of the Imperial Cannon's near-completion (to pummel the Organization's weaker mimicry of your army), they have gathered intel that the Organization has commenced creation of their own cannon, due to be finished this week. And if that is not enough, they have also created two newer factions of your "army", being higher in quality and power.

The first waves of attacks have started, the Organization has obviously focused on quantity, not quality, of their army. Being strong in numbers, they actually have a chance of destroying the Researching Headquarters, being that they don't need any of the information it holds anymore.

Basically there is a few basic "Weapons" that the leader may use (or purchase).

Effect: Changes leader into a medic.
Abilities: Healing, Restoration and Optical Flare
Others: You must unlock this weapon before being able to use it.
Price: 250 Gas

> Technical Equipment [SCV]
Effect: Changes leader into a Technician.
Abilities: Repair mechanical units, and defenses. (Possibility: Build something?)
Others: You must unlock this weapon before being able to use it.
Price: 250 Gas

> Imperial Cannon [Reaver]
Effect: Leader can use the Imperial Cannon (Amphioxus weapon)
Abilities: Shells will cause a major imbalance upon the materials, causing the targets to split. (ie: If a C02 unit was shot, it would split into two C01 units)
Others: You must unlock this weapon before being able to use it.
Price: Undefined

> Gravity Cannon [Hero Reaver]
Effect: Leader can use the Gravity Cannon (Organization weapon)
Abilities: Shells are made with an extremely dense material, creating its own gravitational field. Shells will explode upon impact, sending thousands of small dense particles as shrapnel.
Others: You must unlock this weapon before being able to use it.
Price: Undefined
FYI: Willing to change names or effects of weapons.

I know I can say "I am going to finish this." all I want, and people are still going to doubt it. So I'm not going to say that, All I can say is: Have faith in me and hope my life doesn't interrupt the production.
I need ideas for a second cannon and also for the storyline. Names for the enemy group? Mission objectives? Please be free to comment.
As for the (C
) and (D) materials (shown in the fusion table), I won't tell you the names tongue.gif

- There has been a huge delay from what has been happening to me lately, (ie: Homework) but I am still working on this.
- Unit Stats had to be completely redone due to the completely unbalanced "upgrade damage to health/armor" ratio.
- Upgrades have to be completely revised based on the damage each unit receives per upgrade.
- New (and more efficient) way of balancing units. I call it the "Night ratio ego"
- I use the damage and the speed of attack which produces a percentage of strength in reference to the weakest unit. Each level has its own percentage and reference unit.

I like ur templates colors how it goes from Darkest Green, to a lighter shade of green. I actually like this idea, hope it goes well for you. If you need a tester just PM me.

The colors go from #00ff00 to #ccffcc or higher. They go up by 110011 intervals. And thanks Zell. tongue.gif

Yes I did make #1, and yes, I'm making more balanced combos, but unfortunately I can't make any more than there was in the first one. No more (BMT) as observer, but since it's a mix of all three races, I wonder what unit would it be?

And can SOMEBODY help with the storyline?!

Since this is revolving around a fictional concept, I can invent my own laws of physics. Also I was hoping that the storyline would include that you are in the area of a Weapons Development Headquarters and there is a group that wishes to take your technology to add it to their own.
The Imperial Cannon is YOUR technology, the Gravity Cannon is THEIR technology. They have somehow managed to create unstable fusions (weaker units) and also focused on creating two super-powerful materials to use against you.

First of all if you want the map to succeed dont include mp)lyon in anything, hes less consistant than u tongue.gif . And I like your layout for your new map, the old 1 was just like a mass defence and got boring and makin this 1 more like an adventure or a player is intresting. As always your idea to combine units to make new ones is clever, and the leader transformer abilities are also cool. Maybe give the leaders different kinds of ranks or weapons to use as they explore or level up or watevr. Maybe even allow equipping of items that are auto-use, such as a phase cannon weapon that recharges and shoots nearby enemy units every 10 seconds? just an idea. Anyway goodluck, your old buddy -DB cool1.gif

3. (This is for Snipe too) I need suggestions for weapons and storyline, I want to know what you think would be an appropriate storyline for this kind of concept. Maybe the Military was divided into two factions, and one left the other and fought... I dunno, I might add that.
4. Auto-use weapons.. It would have to be a passive Item that you could equip to your leader, maybe a "shield upgrade" for the Cannons (since they're reavers)?

Umm... I can help with the storyline if you'd like. What specifically do you want, though? I mean do you want a series of plot points that occur as you play the map? Or do you want a general plot outline to use for the map.

If its the latter, you could do something simple (similar to what you posted in the main post) like the enemies have issued a statement of war against you. Their intelligence reports have shown that you have a stable fusion ability, and since they are having major issues with their fusion source (causing their attackers to be flawed and therefore weaker), they want to take your best scientists (perhaps?) or just the secret plans that make yours work properly.

Since you want to classify this as an RPG, you could make the map like a survival map at first (like the enemy sending a huge attack of relatively weak fusioned units). Once you kill them all and save the HQ, you are sent to infiltrate their base and disable their main weapon - the Gravity Cannon (which would turn it into an Anti-Gravity Cannon) - in a certain amount of time. When that timer runs out, they will fire the Cannon because if they can't get your techniligy, then no one should. If the cannon is disabled, it implodes and you win. If it is still active, it fires and you lose.


Just some ideas for ya. I'll check back here with some others later, if need be. smile.gif

2 - B: Well, one cool effect that you could do is that the cannon literally fires balls of gravitational matter that pull in everything toward it (like a black hole the size of a hot air balloon). On the map you could do something original like once the cannon goes off, a nuke lands where the cannon is targeted (presumably the HQ). Once the nuke explodes, a set of create/kill explosions occur as well, pulling everything around toward it.

On the other hand, you could have the cannon fire at certain tme intervals. Like the Death Star, this cannon takes a certain amount of time to power up - say 15 or 20 minutes? So when 20 minutes is up on a countdown timer, a nuke targets a section of the HQ and any player near it automatically dies. That could mean one of the side missions would be to disable the cannon(as I suggested earlier) before the HQ is destroyed.

At the same time, you could have a "Protection" type map at one point where there is an onslaught of enemies and you have to protect the HQ's fusion source (which is very similar to what I suggested earlier).

3: Aside from the one I posted above, I haven't written any other mission yet. I'll post them tomorrow, though.

Should that be the name for the enemy organization instead?

I like your ideas but I don't want the cannon to be "The End", I want it to be part of the story. The building of cannon, and stealing it, are part of the story.

Well, I guess it sounds a little better for Research Facility: "Amphioxus"
But it also sounds good for and Evil Organization

I guess it could be for the organization, if you don't have a better name.

One more question added, 1C, 2A and 2B are finished. I was thinking that he could operate the cannons only as a technician, and also repair mechanical units (golies, tanks, etc.) I don't know if he should be able to build...
And I want SUGGESTIONS for #3, like what kind of mission? (ie: defend the trucks as they bring supplies from point A to point B)

Amphioxus sounds cool. I like it. It doesn't sound like the name of an enemy force, so I'd keep it for the good guys.

About the Gravity Cannon, is it owned by the good guys or the bad guys? From your description, I thouhgt it was owned by the baddies.

I like the idea of using the lurkers. Go for it. I was just trying to think of visual stuff, like a nuke going off (making sure nukes do 0 damage) and then the explosion creates a massive create/kill effect of some unit (or two units, like an air and a ground) at the nuke site. That then draws in all the units nearby and obviously a massive amount of lurks under the explosions would do mega damage to everything. I like it. It doesn't sound corny at all to me.
