Staredit Network -> Portal News -> Update3: Member Group Cosmetic Changes
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2006-10-04 at 02:52:16
Due to some complaints, I did some screwing around with most of the member group's appearances. That is, everyone's group except yours (aka 99% of SEN's).

Administrators now have a
Evil Red. (EE2222)

Tutorial Keepers now have a
Pale Green. (9BECD1)

DLDB Keepers now have a
Deeper Blue. (9090FF)

Moderators now have a
Tan. (FFC891)

Elites now have a
Slightly More Gold Gold. (FACB0E)

These are by no means a final change, and I'd love to year your comments?

The blue highlight is very striking. But that may be because it looks very similar to the blue in your signature.

What about Regulars? Are we stuck with the same ol' green as well?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DT_Battlekruser on 2006-10-04 at 02:56:10
Green fits rather nicely right now, so yes you poor Regulars are stuck with green tongue.gif

I dimmed the Admin highlight and slightly grayed the text. I'm going to bed now; I'll deal with this tomorrow.

Yeah it looks much better now. No more burninating the countryside my eyes.

The more I think about it, the green is actually pretty nice. Same with the gold for elites.

I take it you liked the «- NAME -» look? I liked the light blue color that went with it a lot, but I always thought the «- -» got in the way.

Of course... I was the one who put admins as such smile.gif

I liked the colours before, but these ones are pretty cool too. I don't really like the highlight for admins though.

The other colours are a bit to pastel/soft if anything. Stronger, simpler colours like yellow, orange, lightgreen, red, lightblue are better, I reckon.

I have no problem with changes, but I really liked how the admins looked last time. Wit the «-Name-» It looked good. I like the Global Moderators the way they are. All the other colors are too pale is what I think. The only one out of all of those that I like are for the admins! But I lke change, so I'll get used to it.

I notice no difference.

Can us Globals get a different colour? At the moment it looks very...70s.

How about red?

I dont like the admin color, light red FTW. Or the one we used to have. Rigth now it looks kinda like the Global Moderators colors.

The DLDB Colors blends in with the Green in Regulars, The banana for tutorial keepers probably screws up elites, and Moderators colors i guess are fine.

DT you could as well leave the colors as they were before. Admins look just terrible now. Only thing better is the new mod color. ermm.gif

I was purposely keeping the colors dimmed so as not have glowing colors that poke your eyes out.

No idea why that happens, but there's no highlight BBCode.

A few rebuttals to comments:

Admins - You're right on this one; I still don't really like it. Red is not going to be brought into the picture. Any ideas? I suppose I could go back the wings, but I always thought that was a little.. weird.

DLDB Keepers - I can't darken the green, because it needs to distance itself from regulars. I rather like it as is though.

Tutorial Keepers - Same with color vs. Elites, right now it stands out. Also, Tux totally loves this color and I have to agree - I think it's the best one.

Moderators - Nobody seems to be complaining about this one.

I think some of the dissent is simple dissent from change - hey I hated v4 at first - and may pass with time. Still open to more comments.

DLDB Keepers had a nice color, now they're similar to regulars.

Tutorial keepers had good color, now they're similar to elites.

Admins had a nice and respective color, now they look like a geek joke.

What the hell DT, where are your eyes? cursing.gif

Everything would be good, but the ones with background color look ugly (and administration is DOS style ;D), so you should check for some other effects other than that bg color for global moderators and administration.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Zeratul_101 on 2006-10-04 at 12:03:51
ya, i agree with ermac. the backgrounds are horrendous, however, the dldb and tutorial ones look good. mods could look better, but they're bearable.

all in all, its nice to see more work being done on v4
