Space Monkeys

well this is a small map i put together a few weeks ago, i thought ide post it up here to see what everyone thinks of it

this is basicly played out like normal melee woulde be, you have only the choice of zerg units, i have disabled all but overlords as far as air units, to stop players from not utilizing the 'creep bridge' done by building creep colony's & hatcherys which is the main point of the game, create your own land, make it twist, make it expand, the land does not disapear once a creep colony & hatchery, etc is destroyed, i have left the 'overlord' drop ability in because it woulde be pointless if you have spent an hour bridging to someone and the other guy has just stayed on the other side of map making you have to bridge all the way there, people woulde become bored and leave at that point, there is a hero system in the game a couple air units, mostly ground units, while i am not greatly experienced in mapping i do know triggers so if you have any input as to how i shoulde have done something, how i might do something in the future versions, please do feel free to stone me to death with those idea's & comments, below ive included some screenshots, i had a copy of my map on this post but ive removed it, you can find the map in the Downloads section, enjoy.

Wow, before I've tried this map this seems awesome to me. If it's actually possible to only walk and build on creep. Lets see what happens when I really try it.

oh, lol, you can walk in the 'void' space there its just, most of the time the units get all crazy and start going all over the place, which makes it more practical to use the creep to get to your opponent instead of massing units at them and possible losing all controll of them completely, and also, you can build a little off the creep, and your able to build in the void but the problem is if you try to do so your unit will go out of controll and as far as ive seen/tried it is not possible to build on the void without some creep near your unit anyway

Then it wasn't the way I thought it would be though. Because then you can "click" them over to their base such as you do when SCV's fling over mineral fields or when they cancel a building

well actually, when scvs do that you can click them around and such and determine a direction, but when your unit goes out of controll on the 'null' its not so easy, you can click a direction, spam that all you like but it will not make the unit move that way, the unit may change direction, but most likely it will just go a differient way, doesnt matter if you click, up down left right, zerg units can burrow in space, such as lurkers, tanks can seige, etc but other than that nothing really can stop the movement once a unit goes out of controll, figure it as firing a bullet in space, it will go straight yes? but if it hits something it either stops, or spins off somewhere, thats sortof like moving a unit off into the null on my map.

Btw, do you know what will happen to your units if they have "hold position" on and the creep dissappears under them? Will they roam around as they are drunk yetis on a ping-pong winning streak or will they stay there as a standing but sleeping school teacher on a lunch break?

well to completely answer your question without any doubt.

creep never goes away once it is made on this map.

Then it won't be as fun, then you can make counter defense like killing your own creep colony and dizzy and kill the other player's entire attack force!

i dont get why someone woulde kill their creep colony and not turn it into a sunken or spore, it woulde be a waste of minerals, the creep wont go away thats just a waste of a unit, figure ou need like 8-15 to reach the enemy on any point of the map if you place correctly, 8-15 of those coulde definitly take out alot of units, regardless there are alot of bugs i cant fix really, but most of them are minor, and if you arent a noob at SC easily remedied, anyway im going to sleep now! bwahaha -_- l8r

Lol I like that creep trick. But you do know there is walkable nulls right?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Insane.oO on 2006-10-12 at 16:43:45
Silent the whole point is to use the creep to get to the other bases and by using regular null it makes the units go nuts

If only you could detect units on creep and kill units if they left it this map would be so much cooler

Cool map anyway tho its pretty funny tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EcHo on 2006-10-12 at 17:48:53
Your units dont go crazy on walkable nulls tongue.gif
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Oo.Insane.oO on 2006-10-12 at 18:05:05
I think they do if they go from creep to regular null (non walkable) ones tho
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EcHo on 2006-10-12 at 18:08:17
Nope, They stay still and does exactly what you command them to. A good example of that is o)Kaboom(o's map, Robotic Challenge.

u know, you can order units like ive mentioned several times in this topic to go across the map, but on my map if you tell them to stop, and move another direction, they go crazy, your welcome to come to a game with me and prove me wrong if you wish, and yeah the whole point of the game is to make creep bridges, and other things to defeat your enemy, in a few rare cases you CAN POSSIBLY order a unit out and back but i garuntee it wont happen very often

and also, they dont do exactly what you tell them to do, there may be 'walkable' null but this map isnt made with that, i havent heard of differient types of null either, this is basicly the beta version, but w/e lol i dont really care too greatly atm ive been busy with other things more important, expected release of new ver next friday.
