alright people this is part three of my fan fiction, and just to those who just began reading and havent read parts one and two, (this part is a sequel to those parts) I have starred the characters of the original campaigns on an all new storyline, so just to avoid confusion there will be different facts and origins of the normal campaigns heroes.
Please send your thoughts about the short story fiction to me please
The Zerg who were not so immersed in their attack noticed this new unidentified force approaching their army. Overlords screeched commands at the Zerg warning them of this newfound threat. Raynor looked frantically wondering if this force was friend or foe. The new Terran force made their first move, firing a few rockets at the Zerg, as if wanting to draw them out. The rockets made their mark, as a flurry of explosion erupted, and the a few Zerglings were blown sky-high. The other rockets propelled Hydralisks and Defilers backwards, in a large explosion of blood. The Overlords gave new orders, to exterminate this Terran threat. Like an army of ants, scurrying towards a source of food, the Zerg moved swiftly away towards the Terrans. Raynor was stunned, as if stricken by a sudden paralysis of fear. Apparently, Sarah felt the same way; she wasn’t moving a muscle either. The confused survivors of Raynor’s force had their eyes open in shock as the Zerg abruptly stopped tearing them apart, and ran to meet this source of attack. Chitters of Zerg filled the air as they frantically rushed, away, and away. The sound of stampeding filled the, air and Raynor was momentarily blinded by the enormous cloud of dust that was raised in the air once more.
Soon the Zerg left and they walled in upon the new Terran force, a new battle waxed upon north of Raynor’s current position, the sounds of bombing, the sounds of warfare he heard for several years was distant. Where he was everything was silent, as the dead corpses of infantry lay dead on the ground, spilling blood onto the creep. Broken heavy artillery was just a smoldering heap of scrap metal, with fires burning from it, frayed cords emitting sparks of electricity, and smoke most of all that came. He sighed, as the fearful paralysis left him, and he took a step. A light splurt of creep was heard, then a minor sucking sound as he lifted his heavy boots to walk, and examine what was left of his army.
By the looks of it his whole army was tired, marines slumped down in the ground, while the remaining machinery that had pilots were not touching a control button, and the machines did not move an inch. None of them cared about the immense battle that was going on in the north. Tired, warding off shock, and despaired, Raynor fell to the ground, and leaned against a boulder. Sarah’s mouth was unmoving, as she used her C-10 canister rifle, as a balance as she sat down beside Raynor. He caught a sight of his men closing their eyes, as they relaxed. He did the same, and saw no more.

When Raynor woke up, he had no idea how much time had passed. His blurry vision started to focus, and saw flying things that looked like birds in the distance. He thought they were Mutalisks at first, with the triangular shape, but he listened closely, and heard a familiar engine sound. He swiftly turned his head to the left expecting to see Kerrigan there but she wasn’t. Kerrigan was making sure that the marines were all right, and noticed that she did not get any sleep like Raynor did. He turned his head towards the bird-like shaped and noticed what they were.
“Wraiths!” he exclaimed, “and a few Battlecrusiers too!” he had forgotten about his airborne units, and they were suspicious and went to expect them. Hearing Raynor’s yelling sounds, many infantry units turned their heads towards the fleet of units approaching them, and they smiled.
He turned his head, and saw the battle between the new Terran force, and the Zerg were waning. He did not know who they were, but if they were dangerous, he would have to leave quickly. Raynor stood up, and stretched, but his marine suit was stiff, and he felt bruises, and cuts. He was well rested, but he had a few non-life-threatening injuries. They were still painful, but he bit his lip as he stood up. Kerrigan walked up to Raynor,
“They’re flying at safe speed to make sure they conserve fuel,” she observed squinting her eyes; “It’ll be some time before they arrive here.” Raynor looked towards the location of the Hive, and could make out the shape.
“We’re not finished with our mission yet,” he sighed, “We have to get rid of the hive. It’ll be some time before we can bring down the whole structure.”
“Indeed,” Kerrigan agreed, they lost all their Siege Tanks in the Ultralisk rampage, and their Goliaths were out of ammo. The Firebats’ petroleum tanks were low on fuel, and they would only be able to manage a few quick bursts of flame. The Ghosts and Marines seemed to have quite a bit of ammo, but conclusively they had no medium or heavy firepower.
Suddenly the quick sound of unburrowing was heard and spider like creatures came into view. Raynor gulped
“None of us actually saw the Lurkers unburrow after the ambush did we?” Kerrigan shook her head. The sound of a desperate marine pierced the quiet air,
“GET HIM!” noticing the desperation, blaster fire erupted from all sides, but the Lurkers were fast, they burrowed in a clump quickly, and few had fatal injuries. They were like cold-blooded killers, and ignored the pain. A star of spines again erupted, and more Marines were injured.
“We don’t have a detector,” Raynor said gritting his teeth he had one last hope.
“Grenades,” Raynor ordered to the Ghosts, who tried hard not to show their annoyed faces.
“Excuse me but where?” a Ghost asked in a steady tone,
“You see where the spines are coming from? THERE!” They pulled the trigger cord, and threw them like rocks at the source. There were multiple explosions, as it fell in where the Lurkers burrowed. Like magic, the spines abruptly halted, and Raynor and Kerrigan saw more of their comrades dead. Kerrigan gulped down a lump in her throat.
“Is the hive defended at all?” she questioned,
“The last time we checked with our Comsat Station (which is out of commission now) no,”
“G-489, may I request your presence?” Kerrigan said in a commanding tone,
“Yes miss?”
“You’re the only one with a cloak inhibitor that is actually working, scout out the perimeters of the hive, and report on approximate level of defense.”
“Yes miss.” He cloaked and all that was left was a ripple of air.
“Alright if the Hive is not defended, I have no idea what I’m going to do,” Raynor said, in his normal voice.
“But Sarah if we fail, I want you to at least live, even though I die” He changed his tone to an urgent voice. “If either that the Zerg defenses are too strong, or that force in the distance, decide to attack us, run, don’t care about anyone else just run.”
“Oh quit it with the shiny-knight-in-armor routine.” Sarah smiled weakly “Besides nothing will happen, I don’t think. That force seems like it wants to help us, and it looks like the Zerg have emptied out from the hive.”
“I hope you’re right Kerrigan,” Raynor said gravely, “I hope you’re right.”
************************************************************************
Their trip to the menacing hive took only a bit of time. As their force proceeded, very few Zerglings noticed them. Raynor didn’t even waste a bullet, as they sprung up to attack; he thrust a knife-edge of his gauss rifle at the belly. Dealing with one Zergling was effortless to him, but when they approached the hive, as tall as a skyscraper, they thought what to do next. It was heavily fortified, with powerful Carapaces plating everywhere. Undoubtedly, it would be a hard task trying to bring down this hulking structure.
Raynor tested the toughness of this structure, by shooting at it. The bullets barely left any holes, and were absorbed in the powerful hive. Another line of bullets, bounced off the rock-hard Carapace.
“Let me try,” Kerrigan said she raised her canister rifle up, and stood in sniping position. She aimed her ridicule at a Carapace part, and fired. There was a click, and a minor explosion the carapace. She examined how much damage she caused in it, and saw only a miniscule dent in the Carapace. She looked at Raynor and shrugged. “We need heavy artillery for this, or explosives.”
Raynor sighed, “Well Kerrigan, we have to find a different way to solve this then,”
“I already thought of a solution,” Sarah said grinning
“Huh” Raynor asked her dumbfounded,
“We still have one nuke, and we’ll be able to nuke the Hive, It’ll be a cinch,”
Raynor looked excited, “excellent, I’ll make sure our remaining troops don’t get hurt.” He ordered them to clear the area, and stay away from the radius of the nuclear explosion. Once they were clear out of the way, Raynor gave Kerrigan a quick nod. She focused her energy, and the nuke was on its way,
Nuclear launch detected
Raynor and his troops kept their eyes extremely sharp, raising their awareness of any Zerg troops that might attack Kerrigan when she’s focusing the Nuke into the red point of her laser pointer. The Zerg were so immersed in their battle with the Terran force that they never saw it coming. 9 seconds, the words “Come on, come on” floated in his head 6 seconds he thought that, the coast looked clear, 3 seconds they were going to make it! At the final second a triangular missile shaped nuke plummeted from the air. Leaving a red stream behind, it hit its mark; there was a deafening explosion, loud enough for the whole planet to hear. A mushroom cloud erupted from the disintegrated ashes of the hive. Blood was splattered, everywhere, and thick guts from the hive were blown into the air. The whole force was blinded momentarily at this blinding explosion, and the smell of burning chemicals filled the air. A tsunami of dust was brought forth making a sandstorm adding to the loss of vision. A minute passed, two minutes, and after five minutes, the dust settled, and the bright light was gone. They looked at the Hive but there was one problem; it was not destroyed. Kerrigan’s nuke had brought a large amount of devastation towards the hive, and crippled its ability to produce larvae. She also had deformed the whole hive, but the hive was still standing. Raynor groaned, when he saw that.
“Looks like that nuke wasn’t enough,” he commented, Kerrigan looked drained as if all her Psionic power diminished.
“I did do quite a bit of destruction,” Kerrigan said weakly, she shifted her gaze towards the hive which was bleeding crazily. “I think the carapace is shattered, and you can use standard rifles to take care of it.”
Raynor tested her theory, and he raised his gauss rifle. He fired at a tender spot of a hive, and in a large rattle, and flashes of bullets, they pierced the tender skin, and there was minor bleeding where he hit before. Still he did not make much of a difference, they still needed explosives to take it apart.
“Did you get that Kerrigan,” Raynor asked which meant if she got what he thought, but Kerrigan was extremely weakened by controlling contour of the nuke, and her telepathic abilities were also weak along with her Psionic.
“No,” she croaked, “what did you think?”
“I thought that we needed explosives,” Raynor said aloud. Kerrigan unclipped a belt with several pouches attached to it.
“In each of these pouches, there are thermal detonators.” She explained with every ounce of energy she could muster. “I think I have five of them left; if they’re not enough, ask your troops if they wield any grenades.”
“Alright,” Raynor face turned grave and serious, “You should get some rest Kerrigan, that nuke took a lot out of you. I’ll do all the talking.” Kerrigan gave him a feeble smile,
“Thanks Jim,” and she sat down on the gruesome ground filled with creep, but she did not seem to mind the unpleasantness.
Raynor opened one green pouch, they had a Velcro lid, and there was a krrt sound as he opened it. Raynor observed the metal ball with its sleek hook, and red buttons. He pushed a button, and winged it at the hive. There was an explosion about a meter wide, and more Zerg guts blew up. Raynor summoned his troops, mostly marines.
“Listen up, I want you to get some explosives, and throw them at the hive.” Raynor ordered, “I assume that some of you have grenades, they will help as well in this endeavor.”
“Yes sir!” the crowd of marines chanted, and some of them went to scavenge for grenades. Like rocks, the grenades were thrown, and bit-by-bit parts of the hive were blown apart. Soon they were out of explosives, and they needed a large explosive to set up the grand explosion and the death of the hive. The only explosive they had left was a C-4 which made Raynor nervous, for he was always clumsy with them.
“Sir is the forces going to use the C-4?” A marine asked,
“Well private I had some bad experiences with the C-4,” Raynor sighed, “and I sure don’t want to re-live it.”
“I’ll set the C-4 up sir,” another marine volunteered,
“How good are you with them?”
“I’ve had five successful missions with them sir.”
“Very good private, I’ll put you in charge of the C-4, and the Zerg hive explosion.” The marine smiled, and walked over to the C-4 and picked it up, then he carefully placed it beneath a part of the hive that was caved in. “Move back,” Raynor commanded, and his men backed up. The marine who placed the C-4 jabbed at a number of buttons, (Raynor had always set up the wrong combination) and there was one beautiful, but gruesome sight. There was a large dome of orange-red explosion, what was left of the hive, was caught in it, and was blown up with a large explosion of blood, guts, and Zerg coil. The explosion showered Raynor, and his troops in blood, and creep but it was worth it, they saw that what was left of the hive was a smoldering heap with charred thick brown coils.
His force enjoyed enormous glee, and there was a shout loud enough, and very similar as if a basketball team they desperately rooted for had triumphed extremely. Marines whooped, cheered, and hugged each other, many clapped happily, and they found joy in this all. Raynor and Sarah grinned, but the grins faded when they saw the Terran Army who had finished their attack with the Zerg, and advanced upon Raynor.
The force had already been exhausted with their battle with the Zerg, but seemed able enough to fight another battle with Raynor’s force. The war-hardened marines, and battered artillery units moved up. There was a large air force, with a few Dropships, many gleaming Wraiths, and at the lead, a Battlecrusier.
“Identify you, friend or foe,” Raynor said into his radio transmitter more bravely than he felt,
“Friend,” a brisk voice said on his comlink, “please settle down” Raynor held his breath not entirely sure, he should trust this newcomer. Just then the lead Battlecrusier powered down its engines a few hundred meters away from him. It was not one of those warships that were made in quantities for heavy warfare; this was used as a flagship such as Aldus’s Victoria III. The cruiser that landed in front of it had heavy metal plating, and it looked like it had two steel hard coatings of metal, screwed in tightly by details. It was still in decent condition, and the Turbolasers that equipped it were fully functional. The engines had much room to store fuel, and it looked like it had many turbines on it. The right wing was slightly crooked, but it still had the charming features of a normal capital ship. A platform just behind from the nose of the Battlecrusier slid down in a hiss of steam.
A lean man with a grey beard, and mustache, walked down coolly down the ramp. He had cold grey eyes, and messy hair. He wore a grey cloak that was as cold as his eyes, while he wore a smile, and it looked like he was quite content. Accompanied by two rugged Firebats, the man walked down the ramp and met Raynor.
“May I ask who you are?” Raynor said still tensed up,
“Forgive the fright I gave you,” the man said in the same brisk voice that Raynor had heard on the comlink, “I am Arcturus Mengsk former leader of the Criminal Raiders,” Anger suddenly boiled in Raynor, he had remembered the toils that the Criminal Raiders had once put him through, once they raided Mar Sara’s supplies including weapons, and artillery. They were unable to act on any crimes, and were completely helpless for a month until the organization remade the weapons in quantity rather than quality. They constantly raided, and there was always trouble brewing everywhere, but ever since the Zerg arrived in the nameless planet, like magic the raids stopped.
“You’re the ones who made life so hard for us in Mar Sara,” Raynor said bitterly, but Arcturus was not taken aback, and kept his gaze cool and firm on Raynor.
“I assure you I am not a part of the Criminal Raiders,” he told him, “I was once a leader, but I quit after learning the threat of the Zerg, the Criminal Raiders were selfish.”
“I hardly believe you,” Raynor said,
“Jim lets just listen to him,” Sarah broke in to the conversation,
“But how can we trust him Sarah? For all we know he might still be a part of the CR (Criminal Raiders) and if we get too close to him he’ll raid our supplies again,”
“We should give him a chance to explain himself,”
“Your friend Sarah seems to have more logic than you do,” Arcturus said, “I am practically an enemy of the CR, and I have no allegiance to it whatsoever. For all I know the CR might be dead during the sudden rise of the Zerg, which everyone should have been informed of by now? Even the Confederacy has had difficult dealings with it now.”
Another flash of anger took Raynor, the Confederacy was just more of slime than the CR, abusing their power, and arresting people at will.
“Anyone can make up a story about the CR,” Raynor calmed himself, “do you have any proof?” Arcturus sighed,
“No, we did not consider taking any proof that I betrayed the CR, for I did not think that it was necessary. I want to help you,”
“What do you know about us?” Raynor asked incredulously,
“I heard about this organization called “Mar Sara” in the Nameless Planet during my years as a leader of the CR, and it was a major target. During the last year of raiding, they found Zerg orbiting the nameless planet and were unable to reach the base.” Arcturus explained, “I received information about its base, and found every single details in the CR archives. I noticed that this planet needed help, so I stole more than ¾ of the CR army, to give aid to this planet, for I knew there were heavy infestations on this planet considering the heavy mass of Zerg in space. I thought this was a perfect opportunity to start a new life in this organization, and make up all wrong that the CR inflicted on you.”
“Jim I suggest we give him a chance,” Sarah said, “If he knows as much of Mar Sara as he claims he should be an asset to our group.” That was always Kerrigan softhearted, always willing to give others a chance. She tried her best to befriend many people, and sometimes it worked. Once during one of their missions, they found a group of Natives who lived on Mar Sara, her excellent friendly skills were well recognized with her. Mar Sara was informed of these natives, and because of Sarah during that day, Mar Sara traded goods with the Natives. They offered technology, while they gave them food that they farmed on their fertile soil. It took a lot to earn Raynor’s trust, and a person being a former leader of the CR didn’t help.
“Even if you don’t accept my force and I into Mar Sara, I will have to help you anyways.” Arcturus said,
“We don’t need your help, we just finished our long, and difficult mission. We destroyed the hive.” Raynor said deeply,
“Yes, but that wasn’t my primary objective, even if you destroyed the Hive, the Zerg on the Overlords of the orbiting force, will land more troops, including Drones on this planet and establish a new base. The reason I came was to destroy an Overlord mass that I discovered as I blew a hole in the Zerg mass to land on this planet and negotiate with you. Once their Overlord clump is destroyed, their ability to deploy troops on land, and control them will be crippled. Then there will be no more Zerg threats in Mar Sara.”
“That seems like a good plan Arcturus, lets put it into action pretty quick,” Sarah commented,
“Sarah you’re being irrational,” Raynor said exasperated “How do we know we can trust this freak? For all we know he might turn his guns on our ships, and blast away when our back is turned.”
“I can read his emotions Jim, I’m a telepath, and his desire to help us is overwhelming,”
“Alright,” Raynor sighed, “but I’ll be watching you Arcturus,” Raynor was not completely convinced, but it looked like he had no choice. “What’s your plan of action Arcturus?”
Arcturus’s cold gaze shifted into a grin, “I have a fleet of air units ready at my command, ready to go into space, what do you have?”
Raynor’s face lighted up, “The Wraiths,” he exclaimed, “Where are they?”
“They’ve ran out of fuel sir,” a ghost looking through binoculars said
“I brought plenty Raynor,” Arcturus said, “I’ll gladly supply fuel to all your Wraiths,”
“Do you have enough?” Raynor asked raising a brow,
“You can’t expect to fly over to another planet without more than enough fuel in case of an emergency.” Arcturus said coldly. He commanded his land units to bring fuel tanks to the Wraiths, and like busy ants, they scurried towards the mass of Wraiths that was located northeast of their position. “We’re going to put my plan into action once your Wraiths are fueled, prepare for a space battle.”
