While better technology allows larger frames, higher frame rates and better resolutions, the acquisition would make sense from a Google standpoint. YouTube's audience mixed with Google's ability to market ads could put Google in a nice position in the emerging market for video advertising. As of September 30, YouTube has almost half of the online video search market – serving more than 100 million videos per day.

The deal would, however, have some downsides for Google. The first problem the company would have to deal with is that YouTube has been facing pressure to clean up blatant copyright infringement by its users. Universal Music, for example, has claimed that YouTube owes the company “millions” because of infringement.

A number of companies have been trying to woo the YouTube co-founders into selling the company. Viacom, which offered $750 million for Facebook last year, may have also offered to purchase YouTube. Micorosft, Yahoo and the News Corporation have also shown previous interest in YouTube.

That's why tongue.gif

Nothing is "wrong" with it.. tongue.gif I don't thin youtube will be down, but there will probably a bunch more advertisements on it.. if this deal passes through.

I hope that YouTube doesn't get bought, because Google Video Sucks. It takes about 20 times longer to load a video than the video actually goes for. YouTube loads it in at most half the time that it takes the video to run, so I can just have it load and watch it at the same time. YouTube FTW.

If they do buy it I hope they dont change it, I wont mind some ads but the player or format it works so well.

Also I dont get why those companies are tying to sue youtube either it clearly says in the user agreement that all material put on the site by users will not be liable to youtube in any way or form. Ill go look for a quote.

ADDITION:
And I quote from:

Since everyone who posts videos must agree to this first before posting videos, makes the postee liable not www.youtube.com

I think that Google may be going too far this time. I thought the spirit of Google was that they produced better products than their competitors, not used their purchasing power to eliminate them.
