Is the red light still on? I would assume no but I had to ask anyways.

What do you mean "wont detect any cd you put it in?"

Does Windows even detect the drive..?

What cd burner model is it? You could try reinstalling and updating the driver / updating the firmware / etc.

There are dvd/cd cleaners/restorers. My sister has one and she likes it... I tried used it on a blockbuster disk and it seemed to screw the movie and game up more. Good thing I got to take it back.

Video game stores have more professional (I would assume) cd cleaners/restorers... but they charge you like $5. Try calling around.

for your cd burner id do what the other people said and try to reinstall the stuff

As for your disk ive heard of a bunch of meathods like putting toothpaste on the disk... I myself have never tried any of these but they could possibally work

Yeah... cover the cd with toothpaste and let it dry. Wash it off in the morning. Not too sure if it helps myself.

(At least I heard you should dry it... http://www.lifehacker.com/software/cds/mac...aste-155741.php )
http://www.hometoys.com/htinews/apr06/arti...larity/tips.htm - says not to use toothpaste smile.gif

I'm having something similar. I got a new cd writer/burner or whatever and one day it just stoped writing CDs. It's like a plain CD-rom, it does read CDs but doesn't detect blanks. I put the temporal files in, put a blank in, click write these files to CD and it says "please insert a blank CD". Lol it's really lame.

I wonder when my burner turned into a plain CD-rom. cursing.gif

Put a disk into the drive and try to open the drive that your burner is. If this works you can probably just insert stuff onto it manually and go from there

If you have tried this already and it doesnt work than I dont know sad.gif

When my old HD died, I just brought my PC to my pirate and gave him ~100$. He put a burner and new 120Gb HD it it and installed all the software I would need like windows and crap.

Did it ever work? or did it just stop working?

For some reason, my windows stoped recognizing it as a burner. It worked, and one day it shows as a plain CD-rom. Maybe I did something wrong. You see I have a bunch of virtual drives. 2 drives with daemon tools and 1 with alcohol 120%. I think it might be 120% screwing with something. Because it forced me to have another virtual drive, I don't even use it lol. ermm.gif

OK MY BURNER WORKS! I FIGURED OUT HOW U CAN MAKE IT WORK AGAING!

Unplug all ur pc and then uncrew it open.... then.... inside ur burner cd rom unplug the bigwide cable and plug it back in... and the other ones do same thang.... replug em in... dont worry i think cuz there not connected right or they need a replug.... like cable tv.... then screw ur tower back up and try it! make sure u switch the comp off. Remeber!

There are 3 Wires on ur CD burner rom.... Unplug em and plug em back in tight in.

1 look small, other medium ,then a big ============= that wide plug. and plug everything back. Screw it back and TADA! try ur blanks now! tongue.gif

lol... this is funny... Yeah, you unconnected an IDE cable, a 4pin molex, and a Audio to CD drive cable thing..(I honestly have NO CLUE what this is called, but it connects your sound card to your CD/DVD drive..)
