Well, in an effort to improve v5, let's discuss Armies!

Now basically, it had been this Kings of Chaos style game with a StarCraft flair (or flare?) to it, and there had been some problems with it, but it was never given a chance to mature into the fun game it should have been.

Why I believe we should bring it back:
  • It will increase interest in SEN
  • It will increase the worth of minerals
  • It's fun and doesn't consume much bandwidth

I don't mean it'll draw people in droves to SEN, but it might get some of our members to frequent the site more often, and it will be a fun little activity to sap up some of our abundant time spent in boredom browsing the internet.

Yay, nay? Discuss!

If we do decide to bring it back, I think we should decide what we want the new StarCraft Armies to be like. I have some ideas, but I'll wait a bit before posting them.

But SeN is clearly for starcraft smile.gif

Yay, mainly because when Armies was around, I kept getting my ass kicked because I had nothing, so I didn't have the experience of truly enjoying it.

Also, I dont want this site to become another battleforum. It would become a disorganized, off topic site.

i totally agree with bringing this back(not that i've ever used it - before my time). although i kinda wish you said this before i spent 2k on title effects pinch.gif

I heard of this game when I first got to SEN, I think it was off SEN right when I joined, I heard that it was very good, except that it had many bugs and some coding errors. If this were to be fixed which SENers can do anythjing it should be brought back!

I guess it sounds like a good idea, and it would be entertaining. I always wanted to try out one of these kings of chaos type games, ever since I've heard stories of them, so sure..

Thats a great idea, I'd love to start playing Armies. I sucked at it 2 years ago, couldn't even figure out how to get minerials lol tongue.gif

Does anyone have a copy of the code, or is it going to have to be made all over again. I am guessing that Mini, IP or Yoshi must have some version of it. But maybe stating off from new wont hurt, wait it could take a while.

Armies was a lot of fun... it was certainly the best use for minerals available. tongue.gif

Well, obviously there must be some way to integrate new players with old. Suggestions?

Also, please remember that v5 has two forms of currency: minerals and vespene gas!

I think we could combine ideas from a bunch of online games, such as Kings of Chaos, Ogame, and Cyber Nations.

No, gas is karma.

No, there are four little boxes in v5 (why don't you check out the site to see what I'm talking about?). They are minerals, vespene gas, karma, and reputation.

No, it should not be brought into v5.
If you want that, just go play kingofchaos.

Have you ever played armies?
I thought it was a great game, but I never got to build my army up enough to actually do damage.
And armies wasn't the focus of the site back then, why should it be now?
It was just another game in the game area, we had a lot more of those back then too... (I miss the jewel one, because I know how to get perfects everytime...)

Is it possible to actually play it in SeN?

I loved the armies feature when it was around before. I also loved the Zerg pets that we had, too. Bring 'em back! biggrin.gif

Armies was hardly the focus of SEN back then or now. It was just a fun game to do.

Didn't the old armies have Vespene Gas too? I can't remember.

The SEN Armies was a small game that only like 30 people played that involded people buying and upgrading StarCraft units and battling eachother. It is like Kings of Chaos, except with StarCraft units and upgrades.

Now that I think about it, I had an army, but never battled anyone. Bring them back! tongue.gif

What was armies and someone post a cache of it!
Report, edit, etc...Posted by dumbducky on 2006-10-11 at 15:53:53
Armies was an old game like magic boxes. It got deleted because DK discovered you could get rich by buying a negative number of items.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DevliN on 2006-10-11 at 16:19:27
Oh yeah I remember that. I knew it was DK who did it and I remember him having a couple million minerals, but I forgot they were related. Silly DeathKnight.
