I get 3 hours of homework everynight as a junior in a college prep school. I get home at 7 because of soccer everyday. I am in all AP and Honors classes but I think there must be a better way to get everything in your head rather than doing endless amounts of reading, papers and math problems.

How is homework for everyone else? What do you think about the amount of homework at school?

I should have more than you, but I simply do not do it. I'm in all university prep IB courses.

Two hours of homework everynight for me comes from one class. Its called American Studies, it's awful. Two periods and a lab it covers lit and history since people crossed into America 20 thousand years ago up to the war in Iraq.

Homework can vary from 2-5 hours a day for me, doesn't seem too bad when I have good music playing. I'm taking two honor and three AP classes.

I have had a problem keeping up with work, mainly because my parents just recently divorced, and my father doesn't live with me, so I have to take care of my sister a lot, almost be a father to her now. I also have Cross Country, and have already missed 4 days of school, so I have to make up a bunch of work... Did I mention I'm addicted to the computer and in honor classes..? ;\

At my school, it's supposed to be 1.5 hours per subject for junior and senior years, and we have five subjects: 7.5 hours of homework a day. Fortunately, it never takes anyone that long, and I can do four of them in under an hour each, often under a half hour, and I just don't do Calculus (I never do math homework, and the teachers don't care, since I still get As in math.)

Last year, I tried to cram a crapload of classes more than I should have in, and I suffered because of it. I ended up dropping a few to get back down to a "normal" workload because it was too much. I also suffered other problems because of taking too much work on at once. This year I went with a relatively easy selection of classes. I only have about an hour of homework a night, if that. If I have to write a boring paper, I might write it a small bit at a time to keep myself more focused. AP classes are overrated. Unless you have an extreme sense of self-motivation, don't take online classes. Honors level classes are alright, but I'm just used to them by now. I had to take a CP (college prep) class because of scheduling issues, and I find it so ridiculously easy I hate it. Actually, I love it because I have like no work to do in it.

I'm not trying to be racist... it sort of pisses me off, all that ever happens in the CP classes that I have is that the black people in the class say stupid stuff and don't pay attention in class, so the teacher has to spend the whole class telling them to be quiet. I learn nothing in my CP class, and is this supposed to be the normal learning level..?

I can't get away without doing homework, I guess homework is a joke for a lot of people but it's serious for me. A night behind kills me on a chapter test. Btw, for one of my AP classes its one to two tests a week. So Im reading 30 pages of a text book, highlighting, noting stuff, writing papers and studying for the test in a three day period. Thats just for one class. The others are much easier though.

We all have to do the same with an AP class. Basically, read over the vocabular, read quotes, look for key points in paragraphs or sections, look at pictures with captions, look at italicized sentences, etc. All you want to do is form an outline, not memorize every word there.

I didn't take part 1, and got immediantly thrust into part 2.

I dun get much, but next semester i have english, socials, science, german.... so ill be loaded.

I'm still in grade 10, so I don't get that much homework compared to you guys, and when I do, most of it comes from math. Maybe an average of 45 mins a night of homework.

I think homework is a crock, you either get it or you do not get it. Simple as that. reviewing hour's upon hour's does not make sense to me, because you may remember it for a few day's but after you stop looking at it you forget it. I like things that make sense so you get an image inside your head. Thats when you remember stuff, so I think instead of giving Homework they should give images and I guarentee you, more kids would pass.. well sense im a Viusal learner anyways. It would work for me.

Can I do problems inside my head? of course thats all I do when im at work. but when your at school your there to learn, not to pressure yourself doing homework.

I don't know, thats just my personal opinion.

Only in Middle school Grade 9 so I don't get mountainous amounts of homework where it piles up in your rooom and everything's so hectic.

But Homework separates my academic and mapping life, its a wonder how I get any time to map at all.

I'm at a community college with 4 classes and I have so much time I... have trouble finding things to do. But it's always easy at first.

That sucks, I get at most and hour to a half an hour of homework. I mostly get this done in my study halls, my parents think I just tell them I dont hav any but 90% of the time I really dont have any. I think that having over 1.5 hours of homewrok is way too much. I mean w go to school for 6+ hours then they end us home at 2-2:30 and then give you 3 hours of homework. Which is basically 9 of your 24 hour day which they say 12 you need to sleep. So you have 3 hours to watch TV, hang with friends, go one SEN, play StarCraft and do what normal teens would do. Real fair!

I don't have homeworks, they are rare. There are just some projects to do, two or three each 6 months.
If you really want to learn, you will study by yourself.

Even my sister in 4th grade gets 3 hours of homework per night... Im in 8th grade but its a project based school so its not that bad for me...

If you decide to do them seriously, and try to get all A+s, any homework from middle school can vary through 2 hours to 3 hours. Rechecking, etc.
From high school, it gets pretty hectic. I mean, if you decide to go to a good college and have a easier time finding your good job.

My advice is... "Don't think your homeworks a labor; think of it as your work to start earning 40,000$ a month." Now that makes me want to do homework so much more. Or even study killing any other time.

I think as homework a waste of time, a waste of time being off my computer! I realize that my work that I do sets my future for me, but I also dont have to try to hard to get a passing grade. I dont study for anything and my lowest grae is a B. I have a bunch of A's too, 2 of my 7 classes are out of the 90's.

Just do your homework half ass like me. I get like 65s in homeworks but its still passing. Though I have to work on my fullest if I want to go to college.

I do my homework that I get regularly (AP gov and Hon Geometry) in my first period 'cause they just spot check, and if I don't know, I can BS, but usually I know. I've never studied for a test in my life, and I almost always score a good or great score. I'm a tester, and I don't like homework. I don't mind classwork, 'cause that's in class but I'm not a fan of homework. My english grade if failing because of that. 2 points till passing, so I'm doing all of my work + paying attention in class from now on. This year is when I stop slacking.

Wow, I do a max of about 5 minutes HW on average, and I'm a straight A student. You guys got it tough.

Actually, to be truthful, I got more homework in Grade 5 (probably 30 mins every night, sometimes more, with crapload of tests) than I do now in Grade 9. Funny.
