Staredit Network -> UMS Assistance -> 1P lag

does anyone know generally how many triggers have to be running and units have to be on the map before the game will start to lag for a single-player map? btw, this is for my doom 3 map and knowing a general limit would help me decide on complexity of the triggers systems to put into the map.

please don't tell me to do it myself. i don't have access to a high end computer and my current one is VERY outdated.

Create alot of unburrowed units and Unburrow them.

You said you wanted 1P lag. Thats a way you can create lag without finding out how many units you have.
Or create a unit leadership board for computer and keep making, when it starts to lag, look at leadership board. No one is going to test this for you.

i said i wanted to know when the game will start to lag for one player in a single-player map.

i never said anyone had to test this for me. i just want to know any relevant information that anyone has.

This doesnt make sense....make unburrowed units Unburrow.. confused.gif
::Try creating a lot of ground units in a small location over unwakable terrain. try 25-75 units..

that still doesn't help... my computer is very old and outdated. w/e happens to my comp is irrelevant. and also i want to know how many triggers running per trigger cycle it takes before lag occurs as a result of it.

Way to talk about TRIGGERS guys...

Well I can tell you for multilayer its usually about 80 triggers running at once before lag happens.
Single player lag simply means your computer sucks. a.k.a. I've never gotten it from triggers.

At once meaning that with hyper triggers, the number of triggers running for each cycle. You could have a bunch of triggers running with waits, that would be considered "at once" but I don't think they would ever lag.

congratulations! you just described my computer.

you won yourself a cookie wink.gif.

thank you for posting a relevant reply. personally, i seem to lag on single player for any map with over 2 k triggers, like rush and F&D.

how about the amount of units?

I've had lag in watching a replay before.. of that insane joke map, Crazy Tank. That's sort of the same as 1P lag. So most definitely the game eventually lags due to enough units doing stuff, since that was more units doing stuff than triggers, but I think it's hard pinpointing the area when that starts to happen. Generally, with triggers, it probably matters what exactly the triggers are doing, not just numbers.

EDIT: Even though it's not exactly a gaming PC, it was with a 3 Ghz machine, so it definitely happens at one point.

There is no general lag range that can apply to all computers when playing in single-player as the lag obtained from playing single-player maps is greatly dependent on the player's computer (My laptop lags in 40% of all maps in single-player and 100% of maps in multi-player, while my main computer lags in less than 1% of maps in multi-player, and virtually none in single-player).

I had single player lag when a battle with 700 vs 700 units were fighting.
