Players: 7

Yarrg, welcome ye' to Stone Isle! A pirate's paradise. Aye. Ther' be treasure as far as the eye can see! Booty to plunder! Arrgh, tis true!

Aye, but ther' be danger too. Tis a cursed isle. Ther' be cannibals, and monsters. Hideous beasts from the sea, swallow ye ship whole! Aye, ther' be other pirates after yer treasure. And buckineer's from the King's navy! Aye!

Hah, but ye can't be rich without troubles, m'lad. First ye gotta earn your keep. Ye must plunder your shares from other ships, be it merchant vessels or other pirate cruisers.

Once ye've gotten the booty, ye better hide it quick! Aye, carrying all that treasure, ye be capsized by shantymen in no time! Take ye treasure deep into the Isle's jungle, and bury it where no man can find 'er.

Avast, ther' be other men doing the same! If ye can find ther' buried swag, it's yers to keeps. Be beware! The jungle is booby trapped! The cannibals don' like us pirateers. They kill on site, aye. An' other pirateers comin' after ye. It's brutal work, aye.

Aha, but no worries m'lad. Tis all but a game. The first man to a set number of treasure wins it all, aye! Of coarse, if ye be eliminated, by man or by beast, ye be out of the game fer good.

Aye, ye must keep watch over yer booty. O'er men will steal it, argh! Or, if ye like, ye can trade tis gold in, and buy yeself a new ship, or ye a new cannon. Or j'st fix up what ye already got.

Ther be many a'secrets on the Isle. Of coarse, ye can't drive ye boat up onto the Isle. Yer crash ye boat in no time tryin' that one. But, ther' be many rivers or tidal pools an' bays ye can shimmy up into. An, i'm not sayin' fer'shur, but tis rumors of hidden caves ye can lay yer shanty in. Keep ye eyes open, m'lad. Ye could find yerself somethin' useful.

Yarhar!

The Rundown

•Start by picking a pirate captain. Each uses a different weapon.

•The game ends if your captain is killed. So, protect 'em.

•Earn treasure by destroying ships. Either other player's, or randomly spawned comp controlled ships.

•There are two kinds of ships. A main vessel (a dropship or better), used for carrying cargo and passengers. And cannoned ships, which can't carry anything, only attack.

•You can hijack more ships, or buy them.

•You can sail your ship onto the low grounds of the Island (beaches, and the like). You will crash if you try sailing onto higher grounds.

•There are randomly spawned computer controlled ships sailing around at all times. Everything from harmless merchant ships, to the King's own navy corsairs that will hunt you down.

•Sometimes those ships will wreck somewhere on the Island, leaving behind goodies.

•One treasure = one Zergling.

•Players can steal your treasure by killing your zerglings. So, bury it in the most hidden place you can find.

•Exchange Treasure in towns for Swag (minerals), which you can use to upgrade or buy new ships and cannons.

•Win by killing all other pirates, or by collecting a set number of treasure.

•And by collect, I mean that treasure must be in game, hidden somewhere on the Island.

•Plus, sea creatures, cannibal natives, and secrets. And monkey's everywhere.

Looks like a nice project.
Will you be able to fight man vs man onboard deck on the ships? That would make an interesting feature.

Yeah, I remember your ideas for a boarding system Zeratul. I think it would be too slowpaced, but who knows. I'm still changing a lot of stuff around in the map.

Maybe you can use the template so its better organized. It seems so messy.
But anyways I like the concept of Captain and crew and the ship pirating.

Good luck.

I love the piratey speaking in the map info thingy. biggrin.gif
You should really add a bit of deck fighting.

So lot of pirates games recently happy.gif: .

I wouldn't call this recent. I've been working on this map for 2 years.

Does that mean it'll have two years worth of planning, research, and carefull design? Uh, well, no. yawn.gif

You should add some ninjas that fly around and kill the pirates if they get too close. The ninjas should have a huge area that's considered too close.

This sounds cool but pirates were on the water... are you just gonna use air units and pretend they are boats?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by DoomPenguin on 2006-11-05 at 08:17:55
I will be usually boats and pretending they are air units. You know, for historical accuracy.

Sounds nice..To cut down on locations....

This is the trigger to make sure transport ships don't sail to far inland.

You can make a trigger so that if a location following a "transport ship" comes within range of burrowed units too far inland the transport will get "stuck" and you could make the transport constantly "stop" with a trigger. Hopefully you know how to do all those triggers. This is so you save locations, and also introduces the idea of the boats getting stuck not destroyed.
