Regarding North Korea & Iran--

This nonsense has been going on far too long. I agree that diplomacy is initially a nice gesture for the first few months, but what about when N. Korea and Iran no longer desire to negotiate, for real. Both of these countries are preparing to dig their heels in and stick it out for the long haul.

We all know that both of these countries have nuclear arms, and most of us understand that Iran has a greater quantity, as well as a more expansive arsenal, including chemical weapons such as mustard gas, and nerve agents. Both of which are banned by the international community. I believe that the UN doesn't do its job properly, and actually just slows down the process of taking any kind of decisive action. Nuclear proliferation is a must, and should be in the, "Top three essential focuses" of all civil, globaly concerned nations.

What do you have to say about it?

What on earth makes you think that either country has an "expansive arsenal". Neither has any such thing.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by EcHo on 2006-10-30 at 00:20:16
I doubt Iran and North Korea has a lot of Nuclear Arms. I thought the US had the most, no? Also Iran and North Korea are both third world countries. You can't just pull money out of your ass.

So, tell me what Iran is going to do to the US.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BlackerWinter on 2006-10-30 at 11:50:46
Battlekruser, all i said was that Iran has a more expansive arsenal than N. Korea. I didnt say they had some increadibly superior arsenal though. I just happen to think that the focus is going to be continuously shifted between nations in a similar way that people rob a bank by floating checks. Each account is the distraction for the other accounts to make money. Every time we (as a global community) looks at one of these countries, we look at ONE of these countries. While one is under observation or whatnot, the other is hastly plowing ahead in their agenda of gathering weapons or at least money to get those weapons. We need to be dealing with both at once, and hopfully this standoff will be resolved. We dont need nuclear war, or the use of chemical weapons, which Iran does have.

Iran hates us because the U.S. is interfering with their government, North Korea hates us because our government ignores them...

They both dislike the U.S. for their own personal reasons, ergo they are not partners, at least if they are they were not originally.

when N. Korea and Iran no longer desire to negotiate
And where did you get this information?

North Korea has been asking for attention for at least a decade, but weve ignored them, they've had to bring in nuclear tests just to get us to notice them...

You honestly believe that Kim Jong Il wants OUR help? What a bold statement. He wants nothing but the easy way out of everything, that’s what he wants. His country is starving to death and he doesn’t want to provide better jobs for them or health care or anything, they need money, so they produce nuclear arms (against the international community's ban) for more than showiness. They produce them for the market. He doesn't care where those weapons wind up, be it in the hands of our enemies, or whatever! He's just looking for quick cash. But you can't just sell nuclear weapons to irresponsible radical groups, or whoever is willing to buy them. Because in doing so, you put other countries at risk. I am possitive that he DOES know the potential consequences of his actions, but is too apathetic, and as a ruler, that is not something he can afford to be.

He doesn’t want the US's help necessarily. He just wants easy money in general. He recently tried to use scare tactics on us by saying that he will launch a nuclear tipped missile at us if we do not cooperate. He insisted upon bi-lateral talks with the US, and we declined. We knew that bi-lateral talks with them would go nowhere. That country does nothing but break treaties. The last time we went and negotiated bi-laterally with N. Korea, Kim Jong agreed to the terms of halting their nuclear program and in return they would get water reactor technology. However, I would say that there was a breach of contract when he (within six months of the agreement) begins covertly enriching plutonium. We responded to his demand for bi-lateral talks this time by having the UN vote on imposing heavy sanctions on them, and within two weeks he apologizes for his nuclear test and agrees to OUR terms of six-party talks. He's simply being the defiant, belligerent dictator we as a global community all know him to be.

We ought to have invaded Iran instead of Iraq. It would have done the world a lot more good.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by BlackerWinter on 2006-10-30 at 17:06:47
I agree with that.

We ought to buy Kim's nukes.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lithium on 2006-10-30 at 18:14:56
No. North Koreas gonna fall and it doesnt make sense to me that buying his crappy nukes uncomparable to even the World War II's american bombs.
Jesus if you didn't know, America invades other places for their profit if the reason for invading fits well. Like for Iraq, America did gain hold of all the major amount of oil.

What? Kim is trying to develop nuclear arms as a deterrent to invasion.
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Felagund on 2006-10-30 at 22:22:38
Yeah, North Korea spent way too much money that it really didn't have to develop nuclear weapons that as far as we know don't even work correctly (just like their faulty missile designs!). Also, where in the Hell did you read that Iran has a nuclear arsenal? They signed the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Act, which gives them the internationally legal authority to research nuclear energy for civilian purposes as long as they don't develop nuclear weapons. Kim Jong Il stated that he has nuclear weapons, but there is no evidence to support that Iran has nuclear weapons.

Battlekruser, once again let me address your obscure comment, by asing, where did u get that from? I dont think that that quote you snagged there really means anything. I said he's tring to make quick cash, not distract the world from some uber secret plan to invade like, S. Korea or something. Where do u get this bogus stuff from? confused.gif You astound me.

ADDITION:
And to you Felagund, Read this: http://www.globalsecurity.org/wmd/world/iran/nuke.htm And pay special attention to paragraph 7

No. You astound me. If he made that just to sell, then he's by far the biggest retard ever ( Kim Jong Il ). He wont be able to sell Nuclear arms because hes on a sanction and I don't think that sanction allows selling of nuclear weapons I think.

Do you know what "deterrent" means?

Kim is developing nuclear weapons in order to safeguard North Korea against a US invasion. If the US invaded the North and they had nukes, what do you think would happen?
Report, edit, etc...Posted by Lithium on 2006-10-31 at 06:19:18
The U.S. is gonna develope a battlecruiser while N.K. developes a better scud missile that still is analogue.

...We have no plans to invade N. Korea, none. We know that we can destroy that country just through an economic embargo and placing trade sanctions on them-- again. That regime would fall so fast, and Kim knows it. Thats why he returned to six-party talks. I'm tellin you right now, we're not going to invade them. If they launch a nuke at an ally, we will launch back, but there is no plan for sending ground troops or anything. It's just not nessisery.

QUOTE(Blackwinter)
You honestly believe that Kim Jong Il wants OUR help?
I never said help, I said ATTENTION. The United states has been treating North Korea rather poorly since the truman era, (I believe it was this president, I lent my washington post that had the history to a friend yesterday.) and they have been trying to get us to open a formal standing with one another. Kim's been saying he'd test a nuclear warhead if we didn't open up to him for quite some time. Now he finally does it and we finally pay attention to him.

I doubt we'd invade North Korea anytime soon. For several reasons:
1. There is no oil in North Korea tongue.gif
2. The only reason it is getting attention is because of nukes, the country itself is a nasty little place.
3. Were already focused on other things.

Sanctions are a scary thing. Even richest countries can fall if they gain a one way trip into a harshest sanction.

So, I actually did read that link you sent me. It said they have the capability to develop nuclear weapons. Where does it say that they have nuclear weapons?

Well, for all I know they are tongue.gif

The point is wanting them and actually getting them are two entirely different things.

I don't even see how you can assume they are partners or in any alliance. North Korea doesnt even have an effective nuclear missle.
