As I have renewed interest in developing melee maps for StarCraft, I believe starting a small group within SEN will help out on our endeavors. Now the purpose of this group is to help promote melee map making and the playing of group member's mapping products.

If you would like to be a part of the Melee Development Corps., please post a reply here and attach the following signature (made by myself) to your signature.

Member Requirements:
- You must have a desire to develop non-money melee maps.
- You must have a desire to help others improve their map making skills.
- You must have be a member of StarEdit.net

No offence, but I don't like this idea. Why not just make melee maps and help people out on your own accord? All you have to do is be active in the melee forum =P All you seem to be doing is creating an elitist mentalitly. If you want an identity to attach yourself to, just be an 'active member of the SEN melee forum'.

Well everyone is entitled to their own opinion and so here is my answer to yours; People don't have to join this group, they can join it on their "own accord" because I'm not forcing anyone to join.

The whole purpose of wearing the signature is to help promote melee map making in a predominantly UMS mapping site. Wearing the signature is the same concept as putting up one's nation's flag, it is the same concept as wearing a ribbon that supports cancer awareness, etc. etc. Simply put, this Corps. is just a supporting group for the melee forum.

Creating an elitist mentality? Big words with little meaning, honestly no one is going to be turned into "raving fanatics" that will call other people "n00bs" and the like for their first try. It's simply a support group with which people can associate themselves with.

Now to get back to the simple steps, you can "just make melee maps" and not participate in the group, however this is something that I am doing to be an "active member of the SEN melee forum."

This is exactly what I mean. I see you posting here, but you're not actually being active in the forum. You're not posting in map topics, you're just saying you will. That's why I think it'd be a better idea to stop wasting time on this silly clan thing and just start helping people.

I never said they did, who are you arguing with? I'm saying it's bad idea.

So wear a signature that promotes it without being part of "melee development corps." I thought about this when I was responding the first time, it's unecessary to tack on the frankly ugly "development corps."

You're creating a group that exists for the sole purpose of having a different title from everyone else. Everything your group is supposed to do (which you don't even do yet) is what the melee forum is for. You just want to have pride that you're part of a group.

Too bad you're aren't very active. You've created one map and this topic.

Don't start attacking eachother.
Get all the members you want, but this group will probably have little effect at all, the best way to support the melee forum is by continually making maps and giving constructive criticism.

ADDITION:
We appreciate the gesture. (Yes, I'm speaking for everyone).

You don't see what I'm doing... I've created this group to help with activity. Besides activity doesn't mean you have to post a map everyday, that you must to post a response to every map topic constantly. In my eyes, activity is the action done to support something.

This group's creation is my action.

I'm not arguing with anyone, I'm just using your words. If they don't want to join, they don't have to, hence the "joining on their own accord."

Why is it a bad idea to start something? Any idea is a good idea.

I'm doing this to just help encourage activity by allowing other members to sport something that's representative of the melee forum. I see people in the melee forums posting elsewhere, so the tag might help sway other mappers to try out melee map making.

Apparently you just need something to attack.

There is no title that goes with joining this group, you just "wear" a badge. Besides, anyone can join so it's pretty much an equal opportunity group.

Pride? What's wrong with being a part of a group? Are we not part of a bigger group (SEN?) There is nothing wrong with being confident.

SPP, I've made topics and maps a while back, way before you were here. Now, I don't have much time to spend on creating as much as I had before, as a result less time means less productivity which means less maps made.

And besides if you're only looking at the negative aspects of someone trying to boost activity by sporting melee badges and attacking them for no apparent reason, it's best just to not say anything at all. You're wasting your time and my own. If you don't like the idea, stop posting. Simple as that.

Now I don't want hostilities between us fellow map makers, so I'm sorry if I offended you in anyway.

I know but I just wanted to help out by providing some sort of supporting group. Maybe I should make the link to the melee badge go straight to the melee forum?

LOL

I'm not even going to try to respond to the rest of your post, it'll just result in a flame war. We'll just see how much you accomplish at the end of the month.
